This was written in response to Tipper Gore's PMRC. She wanted the government to put boundaries on/around "scandalous" music. This is Danzig saying "no, that's the parents' job, not the government's". If you don't want your kids to hear or see curse words/dark imagery, then it's your job as a parent to make sure it doesn't happen. The artists shouldn't have the government stepping in and limiting who can or can't have access to their music. It's the highest charting protest song ever. Or, at least it WAS. That could've changed.

@@dezertson2011 there's no mention of "We're Not Gonna Take It" being a protest song about anything in particular. It's nothing more than a generic "rebellious youth" anthem in spirit. Dee did testify in front of Congress though, yes.
