Wow, this is the final step I have been missing. Maybe I am over critical of my work but I try to reduce colour casts as much as I can. This can be time consuming but the method shown here has just revolutionised my work flow. Just created a PS action that STOPS on the eye dropper part of the curves before continuing and its now takes seconds to run. Thank you Nathan!! Regards Bruce 241Photography (UK)

This video is a godsend. I was banging my head on the table trying to figure out why I just can’t get those perfect whites with flambient like so many other people and boom, you give me a near instant fix! Thank you Nathan! Your videos have helped me improve my photos dramatically over the last several months.

This is BRILLIANT!!! And the timing is even more amazing! I shot a beautiful home two days ago, but really struggled with colour when I editing. So frustrating as I wanted to show this home at its best (of course). I've gone back to the same images and applied this technique... VOILA!! Colours are MUCH better!! Thank you again Nathan!!

Your instructionals are on another level, ones for that matter are free videos on youtube. I love how you fully explain the process meaning what keys you press throughout photoshop. I was watching Mike Kelleys paid course and he rarely explains what keys he presses and it drives me to insanity as being somewhat new to Photoshop.

Mind blown, as if you were in my head. Just last week I shot a home and was having color cast issues due to the wood floor, both in the living room and kitchen. I've been using a LR present brush from Rich Baum called "Ceiling White" to brush out the color casts. It works well, but I really like this approach. I can see that it may also remove the color casts from the stainless steel dishwasher as well. I'll now go back and re-edit the images with this technique. Thank you once again!

Thank you for these videos. Your books and videos have been incredibly helpful in getting many of us to the next level. Have you considered doing a complete shoot (shadow video), start to finish in real-time? The only videos like this I can find are guys shooting HDR, which are no help. Shooting flambient, to shoot the average 2,500 sq foot home, it usually takes me 2 or 3 hours on site. I would love to see (without detailed commentary) how quickly someone with your experience moves through a house. Thanks again, love your work!

Very useful thank you. Could you please make a video showing the quickest way to select all the whites in a photo and make them whiter and brighter. I watched another video where the author made selections with a lasso tool for all the whites and it seems to take much too long. Only book of yours I don't have is color so I have to rectify that.

Brilliant 👏. Is it possible to apply this technic in hdr without shooting with a flash?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I mentioned that in the video: apply it to one of the ambient HDR shots. Beware that a finished HDR could have an outside view (or partial), with thus a different WB, so the most accurate method is with an ambient shot that exposes for the inside.
@brandonmartin34982 жыл бұрын
I tried making this technique in to an action and it doesn't seem to work on subsequent photos since gray point can be different for each shot. Suggestions? You've helped me earn more money and I appreciate your terrific work!
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
It might take a more complicated kind of action that is interactive. I'll put this on my todo list for videos.

Great information, Nathan! I use ACDSee Ultimate, and it runs pretty close to LR with masking and layers. About your books, do you feel the info given in those would also help out a lot with someone who uses ACDSee?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This video though isn't about LR; it's about PS, which is Apples and Oranges when comparing to ACDSee, and is why my books incorporate PS in the workflows. Here's a link to my books, you can take a look inside each to see how they might fit what you need for your work: amzn.to/34qUVfg

I just finished your “Mastering Color” book. Great book! Just curious…Which do you consider the stronger/more controlled method: The “Average Blur Method” in this video or the “Grey Point Method” from your book?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Each works differently in various circumstances, and are similar in many regards, working off the AWB algorithm basis discussed in the book.

Great Video! Would you do this to the final image that was spit out after merging HDR photos and then do your edits or would you do this to the HDR photos first and then merge? Thanks!
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't do HDR, which would suffer from a wider range of color inaccuracy throughout the space. Using flash with the flambient method, you get color consistency that can be more accurately corrected across the tonal range like I show in this video. You might want to download my e-book on interior photography to see what I mean, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3pzH1yx

Nathan, what about setting white and black points? Is it unnecessary?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Mostly. Depends on different situations, and what works well for each. I show threshold methods for white/blackpoints as well as other graypoint techniques in my advanced editing guide for real estate, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3tTDizc

What do you think about the Color Checker Passport?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Too time-consuming for real estate photography. Too many setups, too many profiles that'd have to be made. There are much simpler color correction methods, some of which, btw, I also cover in my book on advanced editing, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3g4JM9q
@troymosley2 жыл бұрын
Nathan, do you find this works better than a gray card or similar and just another option?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
The two are often misunderstood, and they are uniquely different. Gray card is white balance, but this is for color correction across the entire tonal range in a variable manner, which goes beyond just WB sliders/adj. I talk about this difference (and the science behind that misconception) in my latest book, "Mastering Color in Photography". Here's a link if you want to check that out: amzn.to/3fJiSAF
