Thanks for the tip about not using poly watch and also about the protective lens. I've purchase a pair to make sure I don't screw up my lens even further from scratches.

So what I've learned and wish someone would've told me is: NEVER LET ANYONE WEARING GLASSES TO USE YOUR HEADSET. It completely ruined the coating of the lenses to the point where the image is so blurry, you can't use it anymore. I'm really frustrated and can only wait for the PSVR2 to be released hopefully with not so cheap lenses.
@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
I was shocked too that you can't wear glasses without destroying the lenses. Also the fact that Sony didn't have lens protectors with the headset nor available for separate purchase.

I've actually found that, If I work up sandpaper grits (1500-2500) and then polish....I got decent results. No haziness. If you spend some time on them, you could probably get them perfect. Edit - Note* My instance involved deep scratches

I'm shocked to see the poly watch repair didn't work for you.. I know they gave more than one kind and wonder if that's relevant..i ordered poly watch repair but haven't attempted it yet because I've waited for more videos to surface with that as a repair
@AroundTheHome13 жыл бұрын
If you are shocked, imagine how I felt while doing it. I not only tried with the Q-tip but also a clean, cotton rag. The longer I worked it the worse it got. It went from a small scratch spot, to completely FUBAR. I love my PSVR, but I'm pissed at Sony. For not only not giving some pair of protectors with the purchase, but also not offering them at all. If you are curious, I have been using those lens protectors for 2 months now, and I pretty much only play in VR these days, and they are amazing.

@@AroundTheHome1 I appreciate the response. I would have been livid if I attempted this and it made it worse. I have micro-scratches that are annoying to me but not worth destroying my headset. I plan to get some covers and have looked into those as well(for both of my VR sets), but I was trying to figure out how to fix these dang micro-scratches first.. My headset is to old to exchange or set off for repair, so I'm stuck until I figure out how to fix it..
@AroundTheHome13 жыл бұрын
@Jordan Cannon, I hear you. Though I might suggest to first try these lens protectors that I have. Just get a good clean on your PSVR and then snap these in. I have a feeling that a few of those micro scratches will disappear. Anyways, if you do this first, then there is no damage to the headset. If it doesn't help at all and you still want to try and fix the scratches you can always pop them right back out.

Best TIP i've heard so far! Polywatch compound is used for mineral type lenses (glass, saphire etc.) without any coatings! Organic lenses (CR39, Polycarbonate, Trivex) with coatings like anti-reflective, hydrophobic, oleophobic are very sensitive to those type of polishing compounds. In a matter of fact any lens with at least one kind of coating applied can't be polished - you'll just make it worse as we saw it here. So please double check witch type of material are you using in your glasses, VR headseats, watches and so on and does it has any type of coating on it. Most people are just lucky getting decent results by polishing headsets (even if you don't care about coating) because most of them has glass lenses not organic.

I literally fixed mine an hour ago to spanking brand new crisp clear vision. you don't have to live with it you can fix it . so here it is, the fix first-dont use toothpaste etc its stupid , I did and made it much worst could barely see anything Facts - chances are your lenses are not really scratched, it could be the safety coating wearing off. Only solution- you must take the safety coating off ( that you must live with ) this is what I did and IT WORKED so well it blew me away How to do , what I did, YOU NEED 1 very soft t-shirt , Carnouba Car wax ( NOT THE PASTE KIND ) BUT get the SPRAY non paste liquid one 2 spray a little on the soft area of T-shirt and start applying on lense at 45 degree angle up down motion ( no circular motion bullshit ) 3 do 45 degree angle opposite cross angle as well switching between lenses ( Important - you must use fast and u must use force and some elbow grease or scratches are not gonna come off , don't be afraid , trust me I just did it and the vision is incredible 4 keep doing it until the scratches are all gone and you have a good as new lenses DONTS never use abrasives like toothpaste or anti scratch stuff use soft fabric only like a t shirt ( Microfibre takes too long ) don't be afraid , use only SPRAY LIQUID CARNOUBA CAR WAX< DONT USE ANY KIND OF PASTE, enjoy

Thanks for the tips. There are people out there that need a solution to the scratches that they have. But, I don't see why you say I am wrong. The poly-watch will definitely scratch them and I said I didn't know of a way to fix the scratches. And these snap in lens's protectors that I show are amazing and I would recommend them to everyone that has a PSVR.

never re use a cloth , you touched it its oily from fingers , next time you use it oil goes on the lens , thats it . Did i tell you finger oil eats optic coatings , oh yes it does . Never touch it , one use cloth , no solvents just distilled water , and do it only when you have to . That is how you keep your DSLR lenses clean , thats how you keep all lenses clean , dong get them dirty in the first place and if you do , distilled water and non reusable tissue

@@AroundTheHome1 Well you learn every day , and its not just mine , take your finger and rub it in your eye , you will quickly feel burning feeling , that is the same thing those Coating feel , . ITs combination of salts , weak acids and oils , that is what your skin produces to protect its self and nurture it self and its universally bad for optic coatings that are few nanometers thin. I do Photography , AStro Photography and have lots of lenses to keep clean , i had to learn it , how best to take care of it because its expensive . And best way is , do not get it dirty in the first place and if you do , then dont rub it in , its best to take the lens out and wash it with distilled water and then dry with one use paper towel . If not possible then buy special optics cleaning cloths for one use but test before hand on glass and microscope to see if it leaves residue . I did that and 80% of those do leave residue , with testing i found some that dont leave anything , and its what i use .But still very rarely , as rare as possible

I just got excited after you used it and paused the video to buy some of that stuff.I am not trying to sound to critical I just think if you would of stayed it didn't work before you used the polish,and showed proof that it made you're PSVR it would of been better.I don't want to waste my money so and I don't see any pictures so that is why I'm tempted to use the polish anyway.Ok thank you other then that it's a nice video.
@richardwilliams69662 жыл бұрын
I personally think it would of been better if you posted it won't work before you used it.I googled scratch remover for VR,and when you used it I stopped the video and presumed to buy some.Then after I bought the polish it was to late because you did not state it wouldn't work you just used it before staying that so I stopped the video and bought it.Only after I bought it does the video then say after you use it that it doesn't work.I might try it regardless if it doesn't work it doesn't work but I respectfully think you should of stayed it didn't work before you used it that way I wouldn't of stopped the video to buy it then continue to watch the rest of the video after I bought the polish.Maybe I might get lucky but I'm still scared to use the polish now.Furthermore I see no pictures on how you said it messed it up worse.
@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
So, you bought the polish because you only watched the first minute of the video and now you don't believe me that it messed it up because I didn't have a picture. Ok then. Look, I know that some KZbinrs will spend 10 minutes just talking about what they did that week. But I do not and these are not TikTok videos that want to just jump to the end because they have to be under 3 minutes long. All my videos have useful info all the way through. The polish completely ruined the lenses and the more that I worked the worse that it got. That's what I said in the video and I was not lying nor even exaggerating. The video started out as me using the polish for the first time and I recorded myself completely ruining my PSVR. I didn't even know if I could redeem it at all. So that's why the video took a turn. Some videos you can do it a first time to test it and then do it a second to record it. This was not that. This was a first time let's see how it turns out video. Don't feel that you are wasting $3 on the polish and completely screw up your PSVR.
