Great video! Thank you. I am having a terrible time with the chain repeatedly coming off while I’m sawing something. Just watched your video and will go out and try adjusting the tension and give it another whirl. Could be I don’t have the tension correct. You are right about the smaller version. I’ve got the small one and that thing does a great job cutting. If I can just get the chain to stay on.

@AroundTheHome13 жыл бұрын
@jr I would buy it again. I do have a large Husqvarna gas chainsaw as well that I'm not getting rid of in case we get another crazy ice storm and loose power for over a week. That aside, the electric is best for the normal homeowner because it is ready to go at a moments notice. Don't have to worry if it will start because it sat on the shelf for too long. And it has the power to do just about everything that you want it to. You can see it in action in this video of mine. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4DNkHuFnsp2qdU

so the first few times I used my ego saw I topped up the bar oil and it ran fine, appeared to oil fine. but I didnt use it for a month or so and I went to move it of the shelf I had set it on and god damn it leaked out whatever oil was still in it from last time I used it. Some people saying this is normal. The manual does say to drain out the oil after each use but that is a pain in the ass.
@JM72842 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have a couple gas chainsaws but I never use them because they are a pain. Really they haven't been used in so long I will probably have to sell them to a shop to refurbish and then sell (they are top of the line saws that I bought and only used once - I know...I suck). I just want something super quick and easy to use. I have been on the fence with the EGO since I have a bunch of their other power tools but I was unsure about the maintenance requirements. Thanks for this video. I will probably pick up a 16" soon.

Add clean bar chain guide and bar oiler port at each chain sharpening - 2 to 3 times per 8 hours operation use Stihl depth gauge filer tool or a small flat head screw driver. Air Blow clean out at end of 8 hours.

I have read in several reviews about oil leakage! I guess if you stored the chainsaw with the little oil hole facing UPWARD it might not be a problem. Several reviews have also mentioned the chain coming off frequently. Have you had that problem? Do you wish you had got the 16/18 inch bar? I’m in southwestern WV and appreciate your video😺
@zaineridling3 жыл бұрын
I read this complaint often, but it stems from a misunderstanding of how chainsaws work. It's designed to leak to an extent, but if you leave oil in it during the offseason (as most people do for some reason), any brand of saw will seep a bit of oil. Therefore, when you're done with the saw for an extended time, simply drain the oil and you'll be good. 👍
@AroundTheHome13 жыл бұрын
I have not had a problem with the chain falling off. I also do not regret having the smaller one here and I think it is the perfect size for the average homeowner. I think that the people that mentioned that in the comments / reviews didn't know how to properly adjust the tension. And I have cut fallen trees with over 12' diameter trunk. Now, If I had a little bit of property I would just go for the 18". So glad to help! Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.orgn.

Oil leaking happens with virtually any chainsaw that, uses oil. The chain flying off, I just got the EGO 16" and yea, it came off like 5 times yesterday cutting trees. No matter what tension I set it at.
@hbrown5068 Жыл бұрын
We have the 18” saw. The chainsaw kept coming off even after the tension was tightened. It came off so many times this week that the inside plastic mechanism by the screw which holds the blade and chainsaw needs repair. We’re taking it in today to a repair shop, under warranty. We do love the convenience of the battery, but I’m concerned this specific damage will happen again as the tension doesn’t seem to stay out. This is only the second summer season we are using it.

Really unhappy with my EGO chainsaw. I have the hedge trimmer, blower and weedeater and love those. But this chainsaw simply isn’t working for me. I have had it about two weeks. Cut down a 20’ rose of Sharon with about a 10” base. Two much smaller ones followed but I had to stop because it’s not cutting anymore. My issues: 1. Chain comes off regularly. 2. Oil leaks all the time. Puddle under the chain saw every time I set it down. 3. Not cutting anymore. I’ve adjusted tension numerous times, checked oil cap multiple times, etc. Runs fine but doesn’t cut well anymore. Hard to believe it needs to be sharpened after 3 uses on smallish trees. Hard to believe I’m almost thru a quart of bar oil.

I just purchased the EGO 18" saw, and the tension adjustment is different from all the video's i'm seeing. the large tension knob on the side is their, but not the small knob at the top, OR the screw on the front. i think my chain has to much slop in it, but there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it other then the side "quick tension adjust"

We have this same EGO 18” saw. We had the same issue. The chainsaw came off many times. We’re taking into the repair shop today (under warranty) because the inside of the mechanism, the part where the blade/chain is placed is damaged from the chainsaw WHICH kept coming off. We read and reread the instructions. No other way to tighten the blades except the big dial. Had I known that there were others with the TENSION dial, we would’ve bought another one. Worried that this problem will repeat.
@hbrown5068 Жыл бұрын
Update. Took chainsaw to small repair shop authorized by Ego co. It appears this problem, chain coming off, is a problem. According to the repair incoming scheduler, they’ve seen many coming in for repairs. They are limited on repair due to delays of parts. Many technicians have NOT been trained in repairs. Anyway, we left our machine and it may be a while for the repair process. It was not a good process to get to this point.
