@Rob Mikels I'm not a polyphia fan, but I thought I was seeing a historic moment just because of the way these three amazing guitarists from different generations were standing together, you not liking a song doesn't change how momentous a generational clash like this is

The section Steve Vai gets introduced in feels like a love letter. It was so good, and the trumpet at the end is such an uplifting and triumphant conclusion, the younger generation being lifted up by their idols. It's bloody hard to imagine how they must feel in that moment, but their music explained it to us much better than any amount of words ever could. Totally amazing.

If you listen very closely, the trumpet starts right when Steve stands. Though the trumpet is a motive in this album. The trumpet in his solo is like the 'Royal Entrance'.

It was interesting to see the progression of the video. Tim begins alone, Scott joins, tim is on the throne, then Scott gets his chance on the throne and then they get to the roof and big vai daddy joins the throne. I love it.

One of the coolest things to me is to wonder who called who. I wonder that because I read an article where a music outlet asked Vai who his favourite up-and-comer guitarists are. And his number 1 was Tim Henson. I can only imagine that if they called him then he just jumped at the chance to play with the band he thinks is the next step in guitar.

Notice how Scott is sitting on the throne in the second part, the same throne Steve Vai was sitting on for his introduction... From my angle, this seems to symbolize the passing of the guitar god torch to the younger generation. By all means I could be wrong, but I'm not.
@flays1169
@flays1169 Жыл бұрын
You're spot on I think! However Tim also spends time in the throne in the clip. Vai is at the pinnacle(rooftop) and at the end they all stand together and focus on the trumpet playing the melody of the song. Seems like a statement they're making that they just love melody and music and that's why Steve respects them. Its about the removal of themselves and their ego and letting the melody control what they do in order to push the craft forward.

Pretty sure G3 (at least when on tour) always featured a different third. I had the Yngwie Malmsteen one on dvd and I’m pretty sure they did one with Gilbert among others. Sick vid! Really rate this song and special mention to how restrained Vai was. Polyphia boys killed it as normal. I did read someone comment about the trumpet leading into another song too. Really keen for the album

Big polyphia fan here. I don’t like this song until vai comes in. It’s technical well arranged innovative… but vai puts the dreamy melody in it… I guess thats what ~4-5 decades of being a guitar god workaholic does!
