After YEARS of doing what they have been and doing it EFFING BRILLIANTLY, they pulled off still bringing it in this song and doing something fresh for them without ruining themselves. Life is Progression and they have grown as a band and deserve the FREEDOM to create what they enjoy! Great work brothers!

Parkway drive is extremely polished in all aspects. Their videos, their production, song structure, lyrics, even the way they plan tours. They are extremely professional and what I think most band should strive to be. I don't understand the hate or criticism they get. They're doing great things and they paved the way for many bands. I can't wait to hear the album. Also, I always love your reactions and the way you guys go about it. 🤘🏻

Even though I am one of those "Horizons" fanboys, who would kill for another Parkway album in that style (especially riffing-wise), I can respect what they do now and I still like it. Maybe not as much but I guess everybody has to admit that those "new" songs do work out great when being played live. Which is important when headlining arena stages and festivals.

I think on balance, my favourite Parkway album probably is either Deep Blue or Atlas, because they're where my nostalgia lies, but every single album since has had at least one song I absolutely love (Wishing Wells) and several that I really enjoy and maybe one or two I'm a little less bothered about which for my money still makes them damn good albums!! This one so far feels like its going to hold to that form! Do I expect to find my new favourite Parkway song on it, not really, do I expect to be screaming along to most of the songs for years to come, absolutely!! Looking forward to this!
@nolankuffner35732 жыл бұрын
And to be honest, I think Parkway has kind of realized that. It's like Refused on The Shape of Noise. They made what they felt was the best album they'd make and they quit for a LONG time. But then they realized that, they could make new music that might find fans in a place in their lives where new songs might mean just as much as those older songs. Parkway knows that fans like you, who were grabbed by those albums, won't find new favorites, but why try to make Atlas 2 if that chapter in their life is closed? They'll play some older songs live, for those fans that go to the concerts and the fans that just want to listen to the old albums still have them. But if Parkway wants to move forward, they have to expand their audience. They've always pushed against the expected and even the walls of the genres they were put into. They did it with Horizons, they did it with Reverence, and they're doing it here. It's probably crazy to think about where their sound could be in two albums time, but I think that this sound is reflective of where they are as people: dark, reflective, and contemplative but still optimistic enough to keep making music, to keep touring, and to reflect all of their thoughts and emotions and not just the relentlessly pissed off ones.
@watertouchesthesun2 жыл бұрын
Atlas is and always will be my favourite album. It’s a metalcore masterpiece. Think what I’m missing from newer Parkway is the quicker tempo songs. In Blood was probably the only one on Revenance.
@EP-Bossman2 жыл бұрын
They are doing a smart move here, after wacken I think they realised where they need to go, they are setting themselves up to be the new next big band for festivals and world tours, someone needs to replace the likes of Metallica and iron maiden one day, that is these boys !
@cradical28082 жыл бұрын
That won’t happen, as much as I would like that to happen…it won’t. Trivium is more likely to be the replacement for Metallica.
@EP-Bossman2 жыл бұрын
@@cradical2808 I see what you are saying, to be honest I feel like Parkway will over take them soon, but they are both very equal, either way why can't both of them be the next big thing, not like there is only one big band now !
@cradical28082 жыл бұрын
@@EP-Bossman well you did say replace and Trivium is the bigger band. I like both so I don’t really care but my money is on trivium. I feel PWD are bored or stuck in a shit contract with the record label.

@@EP-Bossman why not both? I can fully see both PWD and Trivium comprising a 2/4 of a new Big 4. Not sure on the other 2 off the top of my head. But both have the capabilities to be among the next big headliner bands at festivals across the world.
@EP-Bossman2 жыл бұрын

Quite refreshing to see people open their minds en just enjoy the music. I like myself some metalcore as much as the next guy but music is just so much broader then limiting yourself to one genre. Which I feel is what parkway is trying to do even more with the new album. It is a lot more catchy and "poppy" then their old sound for sure, but you can't expect a band to keep churning out the same sound for decades. I enjoy the new songs alot

My heart races when there's metalcore on the ride. I have a few things from Parkway Drive, especially the older albums. I listened to a lot in 2005, I remember that the first album I listened to was Killing with a Smile (blackout, Mutiny, romance is dead, Pandora) and the later Horizons that released in 2007 🤨 (carrion, Horizons) But this album was very show, like Napalm is cool, Glitch, Darker still, Imperial Heretic and The greatest fear, in short, in general lines a genuinely good track. Did you like Matheus, what is your perception about it? Guy came out a fucking track from the architects, it's worth checking out. I'll admit the breakdown was a well written one but I've got to be honest.. this is straight up boring to me. Listened to Parkway all the way up until Ire and then I just simply lost interest. I'm no longer the target demographic and that's fine. It just feels sad watching a band take such a safe route. They have got so much more gas in the tank in regards to what they can do and yet we're still getting stadium rock for nearly the 8th year in a row. I'm glad you boys enjoyed it but I have fallen so far out of touch with this band I don't see myself being a fan again.
@nathandjohnny2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but to the same point, we got mid venue metalcore for 12 years.
@travisharvey79112 жыл бұрын
The “safe route” as you call it, would actually be to keep churning out the same old stuff
@nickwait52602 жыл бұрын
@@travisharvey7911 Yeah that's technically true too. I personally think the old and this 'new' is not their best direction right now. Would almost rather they experiment and take some risks rather than stagnate in their current sound or go back to their old. I get that people have a soft spot in their heart for Parkway.. I used to as well but the fact is - most people who hear their newer stuff won't add this to their playlist and will likely forget about it in a month. The mid venue metalcore is what made Parkway who they are and understandably a lot of the people complaining about them leaving their roots are right to feel that way. In the same swing we as fans can't expect them to play the same stuff over and over. So why not experiment with blending their old with the new? There are so many routes they could take but they're choosing to literally sell out to hundreds of thousands of Europeans and that's okay.
