Welcome to the Dark side of Disney!
So I watch a lot of Disney videos on KZbin, and I realized certain videos which talk about incidents at Disney Parks almost never feature any character related ones, so that’s where I come in!
These are 15 Disney Parks incidents involving characters!
NOTE: this video deals with sensitive topics including assault, racism, & death. If you don’t like these things don’t watch the video. Also don’t watch the video if you want to preserve the Disney Magic, there’s quite a few not safe for magic pictures in this video.

NOTE: this channel is recommended for ages 13+ and NOT for kids. This channel may contain videos not suitable for children and have adult language or other things kids shouldn't be exposed to. While some of my videos may be ok for kids to watch I assure you the rest is sure as hell not!

The Pooh one annoys me. The kid was punching the man, and he just accidentally smacked her with the ear while spinning around. I really don’t blame the kid, I blame the parents, who took a minor incident way out of proportion. Hope the kid and the guy in Pooh is doing ok now

Ugh, I was just about to comment on the same thing. while I do not blame the child, I think it was karma was hitting her back. Then when the entitled attention-seeking parents decided to bring this non-issue to court, they get NOTHING but embarrassment which is sweet. 😌 I am also passionate about costume characters, so it boils my blood when kids and/or adults disrespect preformers.

Yeah I was about to say the parents were witnessing this yet they didn't do anything to stop her from hitting a person but they only got involved when she got hurt by accident. Honestly they sound like trashy parents who let their kids get away with bad behaviour. But as soon as the kids experience consequences for their bad behaviour, they are the first to cry about it. And if the parents were that trashy, I completely understand why the child would think it's acceptable to hit a person in the first place.

@@B0BBYJ4CK I don't blame the child because I don't think the child knew any better. I think she had been allowed to get away with doing whatever she wanted her entire life and she probably thought it was ok to hit people for fun because her parents obviously did nothing about it until it affected her and therefore them.

As someone who has (and will in the future) worked as a character preformer, I can say that character performers already have it tough. I can only speak for myself when it comes to preforming. I never TRY to "ignore children". I get to the ones that are interacting with me and try to give everyone a fair chance. There will be times where I don't see certain people. Back when I worked at Six Flags as Sylvester The Cat, I frequently disappointed guests because we HAD RULES during our outings. We were out for 30 minutes and back in for 30 minute breaks. Sometiems adults would get mad as us cuz we had to stay on schedule AND EVEN SAY: "Oh you let that child take a picture with you, but we can't?" We've been cursed at for JUST following the rules the company has, and it REALLY irritates me when people assume the performers are terrible people because they didn't acknowledge ONE CHILD. Hey, maybe the actor is tired, thirsty, or worn out from being in that suit all day? And I'm not saying it's right to ignore a kid nor to be racist, but why are we so quick to call it racism WHEN WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE ACTOR LOOKS LIKE %99.9 OF THE TIME?! And we need to stop enabling greedy people for falsy accusing others for money! I'm black and I've been accused of being biased!!! We need to stop taking things at face-value and THINK. PUT YOURSELF IN THEIR SHOES AND TRY TO SEE IT FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE, PLEASE!! (This isn't towards the creator of the video but to people in general)

Sorry you have to go through that on the job. Maybe costumed performers need to go on strike the next time a Karen tries to ruin a performers career for money. They were claimed as other stories, as he was "just looking at the girls pins" and the push thing was an "accident". There were stories to them that proved there were different stories, but that sure is a few accidents involving other people…. The one involving Ariel was really disturbing, as the culprit was a sex offender, yet, he actually managed to get into DisneyWorld, despite the park banning such people from attending.
@Thiefnuker
@Thiefnuker Жыл бұрын
To be fair though, that's a useless clause anyway. You can't check every guest's background and even if you could it would hardly tell you anything. A "registered sex offender" in the US can be anyone from someone who peed outside since there were no public toilets available down to a serial r*pist. Predictive Policing also isn't a real thing so even if someone had groped someone in the past that tells you hardly anything about whether they're going to do it again. Someone without a previous conviction is almost just as likely to do so, if they have the respective mindsets. Criminal Records are but a tool of repression. They do not prevent crime from happening nor should they be the basis of any decision about an individual's future.

But how can they police that? You don’t need to show a social security number to buy a ticket - how would you even know? Pull aside the ones that LOOK like offenders? Truth is there’s no way to stop them until you see them inside doing something inappropriate.

Disney can ban people yes, but they do not know how to identify registered offenders at the park gates or ticket booth. I would know I used to work there at Magic Kingdom. And it’s the complete opposite, many offenders work for Disney and get away with such actions. I remember there was a women who had carried a baby from her rapist while at animal kingdom and Disney let him continue working there.

As a black person I get so angry hearing about these cases of characters being “Racist”. What’s really happening in most cases of this is that the character didn’t see them or they’re taking their time interacting with other children before getting to the next bunch of kids. Incidents like these are why I kind of wish people would get kicked from the parks for trying to cause trouble just to play victim for the media. Though I know doing that would make it worse.
@tiahnarodriguez3809

I agree. The community throws out the word “racist” too easily these days, and it makes it harder for those of us who actually face racism to be taken seriously. I think anyone who makes a false claim or a claim without proof should face repercussions of sorts because these kinds of things can ruin peoples lives, and it’s just not right.

Not only that but characters are on a schedule and need breaks. They should have the luxury of being able to go backstage without being called racist for not having all day to entertain every single person. That would be an extreme amount of work to get to every single guest.

Exactly. Like, what range of view do the costume characters have? If it was like Cinderella or something, then I’d be more inclined to believe them because unless the actual person has peripheral vision issues, then I don’t think they’d have an excuse. Edit to add: Saw the last incident and I’m pretty sure that lady is just trying to go on break considering she doesn’t seem to be stopping for anyone else beyond a wave or a handshake.

Those so called blk leaders white people say are blk leaders in the blk community is a lie because blk people don’t see them as their leaders or they spoke person at all especially the young blk people. Random as a blk person who is their community leader and you see what I am talking about. I wouldn't doubt that those kids were probably getting ignored (I speak from the perspective of having been in the shoes of those kids and getting ignored by entertainers). Keep in mind that I don't think I know anything for sure. The issue with having witnesses for these incidents of course is that things like this are really subtle so it's plausible that people did witness the event and just didn't view it as a big deal while it was happening. The part on not having an employee's perspective I can brush away with the fact that they probably didn't wanna directly speak up since having accused racism attached to your name would suck. I will admit that both these factors are pretty sus because you'd think someone would have come out by now or there'd be more details, so it's entirely valid to be skeptical 🤔

So for the thing with rapunzel, I’ve experienced a similar experience with Tigger and my brother. It has nothing to do with race the character is just trying to get to point a to point b. If characters are doing meet up they will typically be in one spot not walking through the park. When my little brother saw Tigger (his favorite character overall) while walking around near some bathrooms, he practically tackled Tigger screaming out of joy. Tigger (while startled at first) then kneeled down to give him a big hug. In the meantime the cast member accompanying Tigger started screaming and yelling at me and my little brother (mainly me thank god) that I should control my child better and that Tigger couldn’t see well, my brother could have caused serious injury to him, and if we wanted to see or meet Tigger to go to one of the meet up spots at those designated times. I’m assuming Tigger had to go to the bathroom since he was near there. I’ll admit at first I thought that cast member was a mean bitch but after the Disney trip was over I realized we we’re definitely in the wrong. Honestly I think that all characters should have a cast member on standby to help protect them or explain (nicely) that certain things aren’t allowed to park guests. Character safety is just as important as guest safety.
@Mr-Trox
@Mr-Trox 7 ай бұрын
Considering the rules around the costumed cast members, I doubt Tigger was going to take a wizz. If he had to do that, he'd be going into the tunnels beneath Disney, where he could remove his costume without "breaking the magic" Thats probably why cast members don't follow the characters around like you suggested. It's fine if Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Tigger, Goofy and such don't talk, it's another thing entirely if a cast member has to lay out rules and speak for them all the time.

I was THIS close to being a part of this case and going to trial. I was also working the day of the monorail crash too. 2009 was a rough time at Disney. But I loved working there.

The grandma recording, in the last one, was really shouting and creating a bit of chaos. Princesses have a timeline of walking around and rotating where they need to be on time, that's why you see so many people following and having a chat with them as they walk too. Rapunzel did infact talk and acknowledge the little girls near the end of the clip and the grandma still wasn't letting her own opinion go, she was seeking special treatment it sounds like to me, I see incidents like this a lot when it comes to characters at birthday parties etc. Sad, really, putting the idea of racism into your own young children's heads just because YOU want something extra over others.

So I was a costume character in Ontario at childrens parties, I was friends with Elsa, Anna, and Snow White :) sometimes it is more than difficult especially without training to understand why kids are trying to get at you so hard. It’s cause they’re so excited and overwhelmed! I one time let two little boys run around me in circles and play with Elsa’s train for her dress. Sometimes you just gotta understand why these kids want your attention so bad! You’re their favourite movie!!!

@@Aster_Risk It's not compassionate or understanding to reward children for treating their "favorite" person badly. That teaches kids the wrong way to get attention and the wrong way to treat someone they like. True compassion and understanding is to ignore kids who are treating you the wrong way and then to acknowledge the kids ONLY when they treat you the way they should treat a person. Rewarding bad behavior is damaging to kids, not "compassionate" or "understanding"'; it's a total lack of those things.

There is an interesting comment made by Tony Goldmark (aka Some Jerk With A Camera) where he talks about the Indiana Jones show and says that it is sad that a cast member died, but that equally it proves how safe the parks usually are considering how long it took from the opening of the parks until the incident for someone to die. When I worked at Disney World, the girl who played Chip got tossed into the bushes by her guide, of all people. She sprained her ankle. As far as some of these accusations to characters, I find them very hard to believe. The rigorous screening and training process for characters is so intense, I can't see people who would do such things getting through. Plus, these people walk in as professional entertainers, many with a focus on children's entertainment (I did). I'm not saying it can't happen, just that it's unlikely. And as far as the kids getting "ignored," you have so much going on around you, it's practically impossible to keep up with all of it and distinguishing one tourist from the next can become very difficult. Add to that, while it takes VERY special people to be characters, ANYBODY can get into the park as a guest. I never had a problem with a co-worker. Not once. Some of the guests though...it was hard to continue to smile. Hell, it was hard not to sock them in the face. But, you keep a brave face. That's the job.

I’ll be honest, I thought the first Tigger incident was going to be the second when you said it was well known. But on a more serious note, I can’t help but feel awful for Pooh and Pluto’s performers. Especially the latter, since Pooh’s actor got some justice for false allegations from parents that can’t teach their kids proper manners. Pluto’s behavior may have been out of line, but it doesn’t change the fact that there’s no clear sign of the parents doing anything.
@destyvi

I can tell you a lot of parents forget about their responsibilities the second they put a foot inside a Disney Park. They let their kids do whatever they want, and it's up to the cast members to make sure no one is hurt. As a ride operator, it's really exhausting to have to play babysitter while also trying to be efficient and keep the guests ans the ride safe, so I can't imagine how hard it is went you're a character and you have to be close to them all day, and can't even break character when they're going off limit - just respect to these casts. Because of course, if something wrong happens, won't be the kid's fault, won't be the parent's either, it will obviously be the cast's...

Marcelo Cruz is a specially infuriating case. The "groping" allegations are the ones that always get me. Groping is a VERY different act from accidentally brushing up against a body part. As a guy I've had my butt _and_ my junk brushed up against in cramped public spaces, and never did it feel intentional. It happens to everybody at some point, given you're not a complete antisocial shut-in who avoids situations where there might be crowds. Now, take that basic fact of life and put someone in a clunky fursuit that impairs both their motion and vision, and make it part of their job description that they're supposed to be tactile (hugs, hi-fives etc.) with guests. Don't you think these little accidents are going to be a lot more frequent? I'm sorry, but the guests in this video who sued claiming "emotional trauma" and "recurring nightmares" etc. are either _extremely_ sheltered people at best, or money grubbing liars at worst. And in neither scenario are they helping victims of _actual_ abuse.

I wasn't "ignored" just because I was white,but Tiana didn't hear me because there was so much noise going on,plud Tiana was on a TIME SCHEDULE. My classmate, also a class clown, was terrified of the Quasimodo mascot, and got chased around the park a bit by him. She also had an aversion to Popeye, who also made sure to make her do her best impression of a panicked chicken. Also funny was the fact that because she had no ass, her pants fit everywhere but her ass, so if she wasn't careful, the crack was falling out. It happened numerous times during the trip when she decided to trot.

I’d love to see more of these types of stories not just from Disney but others that you suggested. Not being an American citizen and never having been to anything Disney related because in my childhood in the 1970’s, my parents didn’t have the money to go holidaying abroad and now as an adult, not having children, I’ve not heard of any of these incidents.

The Pooh one just goes to show you that disrespectful children are raised and overly spoiled by disrespectful parents. If anything the parents should have stopped the little girl and tell her to act right when in a public space, don’t reward her behavior by suing a man for doing his job, and he clearly didn’t mean to hit a little girl.

3 Days later: Five Children are now linked to the incident at Disney Park, where a man dressed up as a cartoon Mickey Mouse suit, invited children into a backroom.

I occasionally wore a chicken suit when I worked at chickfila and would go around the mall passing out little balloons to kids. I too was accused by some teenager that I groped them even though the hands did not have articulation and you could had to mostly pay attention to the ground to make sure you didn't trip with 0 peripheral vision.
