I wish there was a scene in the originals where Hayley has a conversation with Klaus, and Hayley was demanding to come with Klaus even though it was dangerous, and in that moment Klaus gets angry and grabs Hayley by the back of her neck and says the following: "listen now little wolf! I've watched you die! I...saw you die...and I'll die before I ever see that again...don't think I'm trying to protect you from pain, I'm protecting myself as always...*stares into eyes for 5 seconds then immediately leaves* a scene like this would've been the first step to showing a bigger connection that might've actually led to Klayley.

It's wanting to kill each other and being extremely protective of each other at the same time. It's hating and loving each other. It's learning to work together for your child's best interest. That shows how deep the love for her was,and how much he cared for her over anything else,that he was there despite anything getting in his way. The first time Elijah wasn't even there,and the second he let her die,even though he didn't know how much she meant to him at the time,he still knew who she was,he let her die. I feel like this could’ve been an interesting storyline. Klayley always had their moments and I feel like the writers messed up by not slowly building up the most epic, power couple. They could’ve kept haylijah s1 but eventually throughout the series show progress between klayley up until we see them as a couple (like stydia in tw) I always felt as if Klaus could’ve liked Hayley from the start - especially when he would be jealous of Elijah and Jackson.

@@lii2582 maybe they didn’t want to recycle the love triangle with brothers storyline which is fair but I feel like if that’s the case then Haley and Klaus should’ve been the focus since them getting together would’ve made more sense. They could’ve started as just coparents then have a slowburn love story because that would have been unexpected and a lot more interesting. I felt like Hayley was the perfect match for Klaus because she was confident and knew how to stand her ground (which Kamille lacked) but could be affectionate towards him when she wanted (which Caroline lacked). She had the right balance between Kamille and Caroline. And Elijah should’ve just had another love interest especially since Haylijah never really progressed.

i wanted hayley and klaus to be together so much, it makes me so emotional. they needed to be endgame. despite all the differences, they understood each other in a deeper emotional way and had similarities. they even had a child together. hayley did care for klaus, even stefan said so 🥺

Klaus at first when Hayley died didn’t forgive Elijah but he did cause he saw how much Elijah was in pain when he remembered.Klaus and Hayley deserved so much more.😭
