The Doberman was very impressive, always like a wire terrier, but THIS WHIPPET WHISKEY is other worldly beautiful. The dog is not an outgoing crowd pleaser, but I don't care. He seems sensitive, poised, and eager to please his own standards. LOL

Lynne Mayer...true not all breeds are supposed to jump around and crowds dont always realise that. I agree the Whippet was lovely. I just find the comment that the Corgi and the Chesapeake were overweight an ignorant statement by an idiot, not talking about you. I've never seen a skinny Chessie or Corgi. And in my opinion the Corgis are usually overlooked unless the judge is a Corgi breeder or knows and likes the breed. But seems to me the Corgis are being bred smaller and its ruining the breed. The working dogs in England are bigger and broader and that's a Welsh Corgi.

I've personally seen and competed against Whiskey and he is an absolutely stunning Whippet. I was happy to see that he also win the AKC Championship BIS, and I hope he goes 3 for 3 and also wins the Westminster BIS.

Whipped was really beautiful, but he also had very experienced owner. He was smiling to the judge, knew how to be remembered as postive. I wasn't surprised at the end. Congratulations to the winner tho!

THAT Doberman was the best of breed? Look at that horrendous tie in of the neck to the shoulder. Ugh. I’ve been breeding and handling these dogs for 15 years. I have PET quality dogs with better necks and shoulders than this one. And John O’Hurley needs to learn how to pronounce Samoyeds. It’s Sa MOY ed; not Sammy-Ed. And BTW- the Corgi should have won.

They are truly the best dogs! =) My husband and I both have had different breeds of dogs throughout our lives and we both agree the Brittany we have is the smartest and sweetest dog ever! Jynine Strand too bad it was a poor specimen. The neck tied in way too steep in the shoulder. This is my breed and I can’t believe that was the best of breed. Put” CJ Doberman national dog show “ in the search and look at what a near perfect Doberman is SUPPOSED to look like. Look how smooth her neck flows into her shoulder then look again at This Dog and you’ll see what I mean.

God that whippet had insanely good angulation, but I loved the Doberman and his outrageous stacking skills. I was so torn between the two! Glad the pembroke and chessie lost, both grossly overweight despite their deep chest.

As someone who has shown dogs, I know judges must put "hands on" a dog to truly v evaluate a dog. Judges don't go by sight only but by feel. Groomers know how to hide flaws, esp. in heavily coated dogs. It's harder to hide flaws in short coated breeds.judging is subjective based on how the judge interprets the written breed standard!

Why can't I see the entire show online and the TV version has many of the dogs cut out. It's not right to have a Monopoly on this kind of stuff and not offer it to anyone in full all you can find is bits and pieces it's annoying. That Doberman had a docked tail and docked ears, that does not represent the breed standard at all. They're meant to have long, curved tails and floppy ears. Why would they use a dog that has been docked to represent the breed?

How come everytime I watch these dog shows the judging is trash af? No offensive to the Whippit it's a cute doggy but it just doesn't have any personality. They need to hire new judges to make sure these cute doggies get fair scoring. In my opinion the Corgi won, he was such a good boy.

OK. Here is the little confirmation dog show 101 for everybody. These dogs do not compete against each other. They are judged according to how close to the official breed standard the dog is. The dog that women’s should be the dog that is as close to perfect for that breed as possible. It has nothing to do with how well the dog stacks himself, it has nothing to do with personality, it is supposed to be the dog that it here’s to the closest breed standard that wins. . The Doberman had a severe fault in the way the neck was connected at the shoulder. The whippet also had too much space that was flat between the back of the weathers and the beginning of the curve in the back. The retriever looked pretty good, and the Lasha Apso.I probably would have placed the corgi first, the Lhasa apso second, the retriever third, the Terrier fourth, the whip it fifth, the Dobermans sixth, that Doberman was over angulated in the back and again had a very messed up neck Dash shoulder tie in. And also what a lot of people do not know, Is this is very political and a lot of times it who is handling the dog and not so much the actual dog it’s self. United kennel club shows or a little more about the dog then the handling, but in the American kennel club’s is pretty much a good old boys network, and either the best political story or the handler is the one who will win, not necessarily the best dog. And example of this was when the Sussex spaniel that was 11 years old one best in show at the national dog show I believe it was about eight years ago. That was nothing but a political win.

We forget that and cheer for our favorites but it's not a competition between the dogs but the quality of the breed and I think that Pembroke was a beauty, although I have to admit that personally I like my Corgis bigger. But they are spoiled pets, not show dogs lol.
