The cat food in the jello still cracks me up. One time for Thanksgiving dessert, several years ago, my mom and I made Jello with “cat food” in it. Except it was Lucky Charms without the marshmallows. My aunt asked me if I just watched Christmas Vacation and got the idea. I just flat out laughed and said Yes. 😄😄😄.

I did always wonder how the inside got so incredibly dried out to where it shriveled up to almost nothing, but the skin looked like a normal cooked turkey. Aunt Bethany reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as her way of saying grace always kills me! I remember one Thanksgiving, I was given the honor to say grace and just for laughs, I recited the Pledge of Allegiance just like Aunt Bethany did. I got a few good laughs out of it, too!

The part I loved the most was when they were asking Aunt Bethany to say Grace (which wasn't shown). I never had a movie make me belly-laugh the way this one did. And also the part when Clark takes off his uncle's hat and his rug comes off too! I remember making a pie filling when I first saw it (the hat scene)... and I had to throw the filling away because I choked on the coke I was drinking and it wound up on top of the filling. I remember after I finished choking/laughing, I got kind of aggravated because it was a really great blackberry cheesecake pie. Oh the memories....

This is one of the funniest scenes ever taken at a dinner table in any movie ever. "It's only a little bone dry". Hilarious! Then, hearing the pounding from Catherine in the background as she's trying to cut up the turkey for the kids. Hilarious!! The part where Chevy is chewing on the jello mold/cat food gets me on the floor busting my gut every time!!!!!

"Lampoon" is laugh out loud funny--but its also a delicious satire--how many of us have disagreable relatives who come over for the holidays--and you can't get rid of them?? I love all the Fieldsian arguments among the in laws--so true to life but more so...I laugh so much I pee in my pants. This movie is a vinegary anecdote if you are getting diabetes from all the sugary xmas movies.
