National Symphony Orchestra announces 2022-2023 Season at the National Concert Hall, Dublin and in Galway, Cork and Waterford, and a continuing relationship with Chief Conductor Jaime Martín
for two Seasons.
The National Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2022-2023 season and the continuance of its relationship with Chief Conductor Jaime Martín for a further two seasons. Booking opens on Monday 8 August at 10am.
This is the NSO’s first full season in over two years and its first full season at the National Concert Hall since its formal transition earlier this year. It presents 33 concerts - including nine with Chief Conductor Jaime Martín and a 75th birthday celebration - and marks a long-awaited return to Season performances in Cork (in association with Cork Orchestral Society), Galway (in association with Music for Galway) and Waterford (in association with the Symphony Club of Waterford).
With in excess of 100 works by over 60 composers, it spotlights some of the greatest music ever written, ranging from orchestral and choral showpieces to contemporary classics, four world premieres and one Irish premiere. The centenary year of György Ligeti and the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninov’s birth are also a focus.
Highlights include performances with bona fide superstars such as Angela Gheorghiu, Danielle de Niese, Maxim Vengerov and Viktoria Mullova and a raft of established, emerging and new international and Irish artists.
