Oddly enough, Diane Kruger (the main female character in this movie) was also in Troy. She was Helen.

Nicholas Cage's real last name is Coppola. He had a brief scene in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" credited under his real name. His uncle is famed director Francis Ford Coppola ("The Godfather"). I am not a fan of Nic Cage's monotone acting. However, he was in one of the greatest action movies, one which, aside from "Die Hard," I never get tired of watching. That movie is "Face/Off" co-starring John Travolta. I can't recommend it enough.

Book of Secrets was too focused on spectacle instead of intrigue, and isn’t paced as well, despite being effectively the exact same length, +/- 5 minutes or so. Glad to hear you are going to watch a film in honor of Treat Williams. That being said, I did hope you would watch a film in honor of another great actor, Julian Sands. He went missing in January and his body was recently recovered.

My top pick would be... - A Room With A View (1985)

Watch "How to train your dragon." All three of them. I watched them last week, and my goodness me, what a great bunch of movies. I'm not a huge animation fan, but these movies are really amazing. Heartwarming stuff. You may even shed a tear or two.

Fast fact: This is one of the few movies where Sean Bean does NOT die!

Nick Cage gave EVERYTHING to every performance, especially the low-budget roles he had to take when he owed a bunch of taxes. Didn't have to give us 100% at all, but he gave 150% every time. 😂 I love that about him. Lol

When I first watched National Treasure I had never been to America, but after I visited many times, when I rewatch this I keep going "been there!" just like Ashleigh. I've been to Washington, the Intrepid Museum in NY, seen the Trinity Church, the North End of Boston... I just need to visit Philly next.

Ok now I think Ashleigh would love "the da Vinci code" and "Angels and demons"

Anyone who says this isn't a classic needs to reconsider their life. National Treasure is a National treasure!! Good play.

I love this movie. I hope you don't wait until next year to see "Dave". That's a great movie that you will love at any time of the year.

Sadly a couple years ago someone set a fire in the basement of Independence Hall. They're working on restoring the damage now. Luckily it was mostly just smoke damage.

We need a shirt for Ashleigh that has a picture of Riley’s face with the words “Spirit Animal” underneath it. Also, totally with you that this is a pretty light, enjoyable romp of a movie. I called it “less serious American da Vinci Code” when I first saw it, and I stand by that description. The scripting is fun, I love the sarcastic banter back and forth, I occasionally just throw it on to listen to Riley and Ben go back and forth at each other or to see the FBI guy talk about doors and prison. As unrealistic as a lot of the plot points are, it’s good times.

Nick Cage in Leaving Las Vegas was a stunning and thoroughly Oscar deserving performance.

I love this movie so much!! It is the perfect mix of history/trivia, comedy and action. My dad is a huge history buff and I can remember going to see this with him in theatres as a kid. And as soon as I saw you were doing this I was like she will love Riley! The second one is actually good too and would I recommend it.

When that agent “accidentally” revealed how the specs work, he was actually giving Ben a hint to how they work so he could reveal more of the map.

Weird note about John Hancock’s huge signature: it’s big because he was the President at the time. Not of the United States (it didn’t exist yet). Hancock was the President of the Continental Congress that sent the Declaration of Independence to England.

I would say "Patton" would be more suited for the week of Veteran's Day. "Patton" is a great movie. George C. Scott gives a great performance.

I cheered at Rear Window, it nothing else you are going to adore the clothes, but I do think you'll enjoy it. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. Hair to Citizen Kane, wow that's quite the genre leap 😁
