I’m watching this video because I’m interested to know a foreigner’s perception of NUS, but what stood out to me was that Blacks face such discrimination... I’m Singaporean Chinese and usually, I don’t worry about being Chinese in X country, or what treatment I might get... Really makes me reflect on my privilege. Still, I’m so glad you had a positive experience here :-)

@@prettydamsel9237 What is your ethnicity? If you're not familiar with the difference between Black Americans and General Africans then you probably won't know but the combination of the darker shade of brown,slanted eye size, her nose size and her resting facial expression would let me know she most likely not a Black American just by looking at her. I can also hear parts of an African accent slip out most likely from West, Central or even East Africa(Sudan) where her features most likely come from and her last name is "darkwah" which isn't a Black American last name.

Americans have an obsession with colour of skin fr. It’s not that deep bro. Never understood how you guys are so obsessed with it
@leongahfong43852 жыл бұрын
Americans are not really white. "White" Americans have non-white DNA in them. They may be 70% white or 80% white or even 90% white, but they still have sub-Saharan or Native American or Mexican blood in them. No "white" American is 100% white, unlike European whites or Australian whites. That is why *"Americans have an obsession with colour of skin".* It's cause they are uncomfortable with the fact that they are not truly what they say they are.
@Salem-no8hc2 жыл бұрын
@@leongahfong4385 ngl my nigga most of them don’t know this. They just have an obsession of skin colour I don’t even see in back home in Africa
@leongahfong43852 жыл бұрын
@@Salem-no8hc Correct. Europeans don't have an uncontrollable obsession with skin color because they know that they are truly white. You don't have inferiority issues if you are confident about who you are and what your background is. But if you are a "white" American, you know deep down inside that you are not fully of European stock and that one or more of your ancestors were almost certainly non-white. American "whites" are not and never were fully white, any more than American blacks are 100% black. They are all very, very mixed. I think the blacks know and accept this, but "white" Americans have a very difficult time acknowledging this. We Chinese are a very pure breed because in East Asia, there is near-zero mixing. We are very homogenous and therefore we don't have mental issues about our racial background.
