I'm Native. This ain't no .82382% Cherokee shit, I'm really Native. I'm Potawatomi. There's several bands of my tribe scattered across parts of the US and parts of Canada. So to be more specific, I'm from the Forest County Potawatomi band of Potawatomi. I live by the rez, I grew up in my Native community, I'm from where the Native population is a lot higher than it is in other average places in the country. They started teaching us our language at age 3. Now elders are dying and we're losing our language, we only have 8 fluent speakers left which depresses me because we are nothing without our language. I have a younger cousin who, with a few others, are taking it upon themselves to keep the language alive. They are taking a lot of time to learn the language in order to teach it to the rest when our elders die. We are trying to save ourselves while we still can. We're warriors and I'm a warrior. This is our identity. This is our lives. I say all that to say I ain't bullshitting anybody. I know what I'm talking because it is a huge part of what we eat and breathe. So with that being said, as someone who's been in the with it my whole life, I'm not really feeling this woman. She was on The Breakfast Club a while back, like a year or two ago. And I was very bothered by the interview and the things she said. She said a lot of bullshit. She gave a lot of inaccurate information. Stuff that was a little off, stuff that was way off, stuff that was misleading, and stuff that was just flat out false. She gave her background too, and from what I remember, this isn't exactly what she grew up with. I'm not doubting the Native blood in her veins for one second. But I am doubting her knowledge and experiences. So I don't want her to be speaking for our people like that, or on platform like this. She's giving all of you non-Natives the wrong idea. I don't think she's qualified for all this. She can be proud, she can support the cause, she can help the cause, but this? Slow you're roll. You're not even from the rez, you have a ton of incorrect and poorly researched information about our people. Information that if you really were from the Native community like that, you wouldn't need to look up. She's not representing us well. And for anyone still reading this, take what she says with a grain of salt. & another thing, I disagree when she said if you're gonna have a Christopher Columbus statue, you might as well just have a Hitler statue. I disagree with that. Columbus was a shitty person and definitely NOT someone we should have a holiday for. That's a little bit of an overstatement in my opinion. I wouldn't liken a Columbus statue to a Hitler statue. I would liken to someone who was bad, but not quite as bad as Hitler. And the only reason I say that is because if there was one person in our history who you could say was like "our Hitler", it would be George Armstrong Custer/General Custer (in my opinion). That bottom feeding fucking filthy excuse for a human being was a war criminal and committed heinous war crimes on my people. That disgusting pig is burning in Hell for eternity.

Over 75% of Native American culture, history was wiped out for a majority of different reasons. Wars were happening between tribes of the indigenous prior before euro colonization. Cross ocean diseases were a large contributor to loss of indigenous, However trades between particular tribes and colonialists also had a direct effect to loss as well. Buffalo had no true competitive grazer allowing the volume that occupied the American Serengeti to overflow. The excessive poaching happened on both sides of the fence. Native American tribes that were heavy in trade with colonialists were just as responsible of the dwindling numbers of buffalo as were the poaching of colonialists. Between trade allowed certain tribes to wipe out other competitive tribes through means of horse and gun. Horses were re-introduced to North America via the conquistadors that invaded South America and via migration north.
@diffrentbreed6685 Жыл бұрын
False narrative. There were MANY tribal wars among the Natives on this land. However, mass genocide was committed by colonist peoples. Under Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson the removal and MAS EXODUS of natives was signed into LAW. It was President Andrew Jackson whose first law was to discredit the Natives as any stand alone nation. Meaning they had no rights nor ownership to THEIR own land. He signed into law that their lands were conquered thru warfare and they were then REMOVED. Ever heard of “The Trail of Tears”?! Or better yet “Native American Testimony”?! You should go read a book before posting your false comments.

I know it wasn't the Siberians/so called natives. Who lived in the cities that pre date the arrival of the Mongoloids.........The original meaning of American Indian was "The Cooper Colored People Found In America" who else Cooper Colored Indians in India Not Siberians. This why they thought they were in India! Why would the American Government offer AFRICAN SLAVES 40 acres and a mule instead of sending them back to Africa, because it was their land that was stolen! The proof is overwhelming. Out of Africa when there's not a Trans Atlantic Slave Ship to be found anywhere! NICE TRY THO.

In reference to her "headdress" myself and My tribe would agree, we simply call this a crown. A headdress is something MOST men wear and it's the collage of feathers, very important to my people. Men earned feathers in battle, in war when they defeated their enemy. That's why you see more older men wearing them, they earned them over years. A crown is something a princess wears, like duh, we have royalty amongst our people. I grew up being a princess, not like a Cherokee one haha it's more associated with our dance culture. I mean it's well recognized but I didn't walk around on rose pedals as a little girl. Pouring chocolate into milk will change the composition of the milk, it becomes something different than either alone! I wager that our African cousins have a far superior sense of their lineage and by extension, sense of self. My genealogy test revealed some shocking results, some was speculated beforehand, some I never imagined. I would never claim rapists, I grew up in a mixed culture, yet I'm unapologeticly black! So how can they talk about New Yorkers, I never understood that.. New York is a Melting Pot of all Nationalities. I call it the UN of the United States and the World. My family moved here in the late thirties but our Tribe is from North Carolina.

Black Americans always claiming what they aren’t smh. Y’all Africans. You keep claiming to be “half this, half that, I’ve got Indian in my family, I’m Spanish smh...” whereas people of other ethnic backgrounds won’t ever claim to be black. Be proud of who you are. We are Africans

But the thing is, reality is that some of us black people (in my case Caribbean living in Europe) are a lot more than just African since we had to LEAVE the continent and mixing OCCURED. It's not about claiming because you want to belong to a certain group per se, it's about acknowledging WHO you ARE FULLY. The bad and the ugly. Saying you are African or fully African when you're not is simply a LIE. I don't care about other races not acknowledging their black side. I'm proud to be black. If I were to also claim anything other than black because it's PART of my actual lineage does not make me any less proud whatsoever. I'm not mad I just used caps for emphasis lol

WE ARE NOT AFRICANS. If that is true then you should be able to say what tribe or country you're from. Ask a nigerian or Nubian do they think we're african and see the response you get.

@@nativegoku1244 You don't know what percentage of Native American those ladies have. You don't know them personally. They could have more than 50% for all we know. They are Indigenous Native American and don't give a damn what you and your other Trump haters think. Native Americans come in all shades of brown.
