I feel like there is a 0% chance y'all will see this but I was at your show in Knoxville, TN and I got to meet all of you then a couple months later someone stole your gear and I never took the time to apologize on behalf of your fans. Your set was amazing, you are the most kind artists I've ever met, and I'm so sorry that a person decided to cripple one of the best prog metal bands of our time. I love y'all so much and I hope that some day we can see Native Construct return. I consider you all my friends, you've helped me through some tough stuff and I never got the opportunity to tell you. Whoa! They played in Knoxville? Must have been at big ears or something? I moved to Knoxville this year. That’s sweet!
@Grasses0n4 ай бұрын
That happens to bands a lot, sadly. Some people are just awful. I heard that was one of the reasons they couldn't continue. Needing the money to replace all that gear was tough for them. That and I think Poh Hock was the only one really committed to the Prog Metal sound. I read in a few places that the others wanted to do heavier stuff. Makes sense considering what Poh Hock is doing now, but I can't be sure that was the case.

Never let that drummer go. His grooves are just.... Solid as fuck. And the singer is charismatic as hell, the way he plays with the vocal lines and experiments on the album adds so much.

I believe the album version (the one you can hear here) was made with programmed drums. So we'll have to see them live to judge the drummer.
@DruNature7 жыл бұрын
oh, no way! because wow that drum sound is like music to my ears (lol) i mean its godly. as a drummer and engineer i feel like it doesnt even really matter if the drums are programmed for albums anymore, its really amazing stuff. but id like to see them try to get a similar mix live. although nowadays its really not all about a live show, heck, lots of bands never play live.
@Stuugie.3 жыл бұрын
@@shiyo4758 that was the craziest thing for me. I'm a drummer (casually, it's just a hobby) and it totally fooled me. They really put a lot of work into making the drums sound natural

@@Stuugie. you'd be surprised how many bands don't have live drums in recordings for the sake of quality and clarity and it takes less time setting up a professionally mic'd room. however replacing midi samples and quantizing them is so labor intensive that its a whole new monster to deal with. thank god for amazing producers lol.

These guys are taking their music more into the progressive metal scene than anything that's known for always being heavy, so don't start talking any shit about them not being heavy enough for a metal band. They all attended Berklee College of Music, so I feel like they aren't lacking at all when it comes to talent and writing ability. Ever since I saw the playthrough for Chromatic Aberratio about two years ago, I've been in love, and I'm so glad their album finally released this year. The album tells such an interesting story, and this rock opera/progressive metal mix is perfect for telling it.

Love Native Construct. They are probably the closest to "traditional" prog metal like BTBAM and Haken I'll ever get, probably because they still include many modern elements like extended range guitars and djenty riffing. I try to get into bands like BTBAM, but I just can't do it. None of their songs hold my attention, while something like Native Construct keeps my attention fully.
@danielsegura96218 жыл бұрын
I completely understand. I like btbam I have purchased music from them, but they're not personally my go to band. I absolutely love this.
@hecksongs98038 жыл бұрын
Thing is, BTBAM progresses their music over a much more stretched amount of time. Their "Colors" album is literally one giant song, and 85% of it is complex death metal. So I get what you mean when you say it doesn't hold your attention. Everything Native Construct does in one song, is what BTBAM does in an entire album- but that's why I love BTBAM more. I have more time to enjoy the details and changes and extremely melodic guitars and Blake's insane drumfills. For someone with a shorter attention span, I can see why you'd like Native Construct more, but for someone who has a longer attention span, "Colors" by BTBAM front-to-back is an experience that will change your life.
