You know, at the start of the Vertigo tour they would start and end with Vertigo. How much better and more sense would have made had the second version been this one? And on the album it should have also started with Vertigo, and ended with Native Son, after Yahweh. For some reason I woke up thinking this today. Oh well.

Those vocals at 1:19 ... I just realized that it's probably Edge. I always like it when he gets a solo vocal part, and for me it's often a surprise. I didn't know it was Edge singing the bridge in Miracle Drug for years.

The cool thing about u2 is that they frequently mix up songs in live performances, adding snippets and changing little stuff. It keeps their songs fresh and new. It's kind of the same with this version. Its not better or worse, its just different.

Agree. These recordings were not "raw". These recordings were clearly suffering from a very sloppy production. It's easy to understand why the band was dissatisfied with the results and ended up turning to the good old Steve Lillywhite. Even the "rushed" Pop recordings or the supposedly-unfinished "Mercy" sound better than these production-wise.
