This library is incredible. I hope NI continues to expand into the rock world with ideas like this
@jasonthomas10232 жыл бұрын
100% this. So much of NI's Play Series is dedicated to electronic dance music and its variants. Would love to see them make at least one Play Series instrument that's created with alternative rock styles in mind. Perhaps something with distorted guitar and synth textures. It looks like NI liked your comment, so perhaps this is a positive sign of things to come. Fingers crossed.

I listened to all the demos on the NI site and they've got to be some of the best instrument demos out there. I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore software instruments for a while, but I think I'll have to get this one.

Now that they've announced Komplete 13, I'll save the fifty bucks and put it towards the upgrade. Not sure if all the versions of Komplete have BV drums, but my version does.

I like the instrument's front panel having the 16 pad layout integrated. More of the drum-focused Kontakt instruments should have that.

Great sounds, but separate outs for each drum would have been a huge plus! Maybe in the next version?
@lowlink534 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, totally, though if you have Kontakt you can do it easily inside it I think lol You can always just duplicate the plugin and separate in whatever way you want the sounds, the only problem is triggering everything together, if you want to

Like the sound and maybe I'm wrong but I'm only hearing one velocity. I hate machine gun rolls and fills.
@OneShortMoment4 жыл бұрын
You’re probably right. If you look at the specs on the product page over at NI, it mentions „468 sounds“ (although we don’t know if that means „468 samples“) and a download size of just 174MB. Even if we assume lossless compression being used here, I’d say it’s pretty obvious that there can’t be that many velocity layers and/or round robins per drum... and maybe there are some having none - especially considering that the whole package consists of 21 kits.
@composerinny21604 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the same. With only 178mb, I doubt there can really be many velocity layers n round robins? Either way, this library is interesting, and sounds very good in this walkthrough and will most likely buy it.
@OneShortMoment4 жыл бұрын
@LowLinK - well, it depends on what music you're making / what kind of drums you want. There are some genres where you'd actually want your drums to sound synthetic / artificial - including the "machine gun effect". For others however, not so much. Most people will probably associate the name "Butch Vig" with grunge and rock music - expecting the drums to sound mostly "organic" and fairly realistic. It's fine that NI apparently thought differently, but surprising nonetheless. And I actually disagree about your statement that "samples will never sound like the real thing." Especially for drums, there are quite a few sampled ones that absolutely DO sound like the real thing.
@usernameihavechosen2893 жыл бұрын
Wonder if that would sound more real with manually bringing some entropy into the velocities.

Funny how it is not a machine drumkit. even funnier that it is not a battery 4 kit. Even though i too prefer kontakt. When will they finally be able to sync Kontakt directly to the Mschine Hardware without needing to load the mschine host and in inside that kontakt etc. to get the colored pads and stuff...
@Eli_B30004 жыл бұрын
I like the maschine hardware, but hated the host software and sold it. If they could combine the two, I'd buy another one. I did love it, but using it was a chore for me personally.

Can the MIDI mapping for the kit pieces/pads be edited? I see the note assignments on each "pad", but don't see anything in the manual about editing the note assignments. And if so, would that disturb the included patterns?

“STOMP” reminded me of “Beautiful people” by Marilyn Manson. Both sounded great! Kinda surprised that Butch Vig would develop a drum library - isn’t he the guy that made Nirvana sound like it does? I.e. he’s a hero of mine, but not because of his drum sound...

Outstanding. Because I've had Komplete Ultimate, it's taken me a while to get around to all of the plugins. Holy smokes I wish I had dug into this earlier. It really is unique sound yet so essential I have a lot of virtual drummer plugins including all the uJam ones (which I love) but nothing touches this one for bombastic sound. Fucking great for soundtrack development and even larger than life hip hop.

I just got BVD in my NI Komplete Ultimate upgrade and I am SUPER HAPPY! I will be using this in a LOT of my compositions (Its NOT just for Rock - Juuuuust sayin'). What controller is that? I am trying to use this library with the Presonus Atom and it is impossible to get it to work. Why does EVERY drum program have to be mapped differently in different octaves? It is NOT user friendly for those of us who are players and not programmers.
