If “Kosovo’s diverse ethnicities often live together in mixed communities” I hope they can continue to do that in peace and just move on from the past. I get why both sides are upset. People suffer on both sides when there’s war but we’re all here now and continuing to pick at old wounds and reopen them isn’t going to help anyone.

My father was convicted 14 years in prison for teaching and using Albanian language and flag in Kosovo(released in 1981) ,i came from an catholic Albanian family and the problem was not religious, the problem was ethnical cleansing from Serbian politics(either way that's unacceptable and anti international human rights). In a miracle as a toddler i survived a tank misle that hit my room while i was sleeping (may 1998),after that we heard about two massacres committed in our city (likoshan and qirez) which led to start the function of Kosovo's liberation army in order to protect our home and our people, the war was not equal but a great counter answer to slow down the bleeding, while my family was displaced and contacts with our father were rare or nonexistent,my uncle was heavily injured without consciousness and my other cousin shot dead in a village next to ours,a lot of people were displaced in Albania, and i am glad the war and the ethnical cleansing ended in 99 with NATO's interventions.

if Muslims pray 5 times a day to their god as Albanian, I pray 10 times a day for NATO and the US. For the first time in history, the Albanians received help and with it Europe's values and civilization continue on their way to new heights to improve human lives.

My grandma often tells me the story of how our family experienced the war. We all wanted to leave Kosovo... the line at the boarder was so long, we were there for two weeks. Very little food. My grandma always fought to find food and bring it to us, for me and my sister who nearly died of hunger during the war. I was 1 and a half years old and she was a newborn. My mum was going through lactation failure due to the psychological stress. While we were waiting at the boarder, they killed people who were in the line, they stole the cars they liked. They mistreated people and beat them up badly. In the end, they didn't let my grandma and grandpa leave, they told them to go back. They went back and they were staying in their house in Prishtina along with my grandma's sisters. She told me how happy she was that at least we left and were safe. She told me about all the blood she saw on walls of the people who were killed while she was returning. There were Albanians who were killed for nothing, civilians such as kids and women. She told me about Serbs going inside the house once, checking the house, asking for money. They checked if we had any Albanian flags, any guns... my grandma spoke in Serbian and told them to please stop traumatizing them and offered them coffee. She told me about how her hands were shaking all the time. They drank and left. My grandpa saved his friend's life who was beaten badly to the point that it was hard to recognize him and left to die just because he went to his brother's house to see if he's there, the house which Serbs had picked for themselves to live. My grandpa offered him medical treatment, he's still thankful to this day. They wanted to take our house, too and were planning to kill my grandparents, when NATO came and saved us from the nightmare we were going through. My grandparents say they felt the most eenormous joy. People had forgotten what being free and entitled to live feels like. I also heard the story of one of my family members who live in Gjakova, a city in SW Kosovo where they killed his wife and 5 year old son. He cried when he recalled it after 10 years. We were the lucky ones but there were so many people killed, so many women raped, so many people beaten and disfigured, people were tortured by their evil men that they sent, especially in villages such as the case of Saranda Bogujevci, now a politician, whos family had all been killed and she was shot and left to die after watching her family get killed. She was 9 years old at the time. They still didn't apologize, they still express their desire to kill us. They still have the decency to say they hate NATO when NATO saved lives, stopped massacres and horrors. They still call us criminals! So many people still missing, they stole dead bodies to cover the evidence of their massacres. I just hope one day they recognize our country and let us live in peace. They still are an obstacle of our development. You don't deserve Kosovo. Thank you NATO for ending the horror. ❤

Unfortunately lots of information is either deliberately hidden or just plainly overshadowed by propaganda. As we speak there is intentional unrest being provoked where one side wants to drag the other into war. This is a double edged sword. With best intentions I urge you to approach this rationally as media often tends oversimplify matters, whether for gain or just simple ignorance. In reality the nature of conflict is never GOOD vs EVIL, as both sides aren't innocent as it may be portrayed. This is not soccer game where we cheer for one or another, as in war there are no victors only consequences. Peace brother.

It was 27th of March 1999 when Serbian police and paramilitary killed my father and uncle(as civilian ofc), burnt my house and forced family flee to Albania. Those times of haters from sebian facism were hardest in our lives. I am saying this cuz NATO bombing was the best thing that could ever happened after the fall of Hitler, just that this time we had a smaller Hitler in Balkan and a facist state in the heart of Balkan.
