I got to Germany in January 1990. In that year I went to Grafenwoehr 3 or 4 times and Hohenfels 2 or 3 times. The op tempo was high and was great preparation for what came in 1991. Iraq invaded Kuwait in August. I think it was September or October when my unit was informed we were deploying to Saudi Arabia. In fact, we were in a motorpool at Hohenfels having just come out of the box when we found out.

@@mr.waffentrager4400 In the era of kinetic penetrators, bolting more armour onto a vehicle is increasingly redundant. Whoever can acquire and engage the enemy first will win 90% of the time. Advanced Western sights and detection methods give NATO tanks the edge, but more than anything the crew will determine the speed at which targets can be serviced.

Did you get educated in the American Pleblic school system?...could you mean Billions?) to keep its trading partners, military allies, along with developing countries as stable as possible? Considering that the US spends more per student on education than all but 4 other nations of the world shows that a good education system is not just about money. Explain why we have entire school districts in cities like Baltimore which has over 95% of its gradating students' who cant read or do simple math.. despite spending more on those students than almost every other developed nation in the world?

Once you named yourself Blue army there are only very few limited colors left to be assigned to your opponent. If you name them Red i.e Communist that's what the real enemy is but doesn't wanna Increase anxiety or come out as belligerent. Can't name them white, black or yellow these are races and you don't wanna be seen as race warrior. Can't name them green army, brown army or pink army come out condescending to opponent or taking enemy lightly. Purple, violet, doesn't roll down your tongue easily. Claiming that Chieftain is impressive and a powerful tank in 1987 is quite a stretch and was already a dubious claim in 1972. Vickers MK.7/2 was already dead at this point, 1 vehicle prototype build, no further developement and project canned in 1986. Challenger 1 was basicly just an uparmored Chieftain with slightly improved FCS, still lagging behind M1 and Leo2 in capability, primarily hold back by its inadequate FCS and main armament. Even though the 120mm L11 L/55 rifled gun was at this point issued with L23A1 APFSDS, it still lagged behind the RH120 L/44 / M256 of Leo2 and M1 in firepower and penetration. And both the 120mm L/44 smoothbore firing the 15-25% more powerful DM33 or M829A1 APFSDS was still struggling with T-72B´s and T-80U´s on ranges above 1000m
