Yess! This is the method we use. When I looked at my period tracking app, it showed the days I was fertile or likely to get pregnant. So obviously the other days I can't. And when I learned the egg is only alive for 24 hrs I was surprised! I don't remember learning that in school 🤣. We've been using this method for almost 7 years now. It has worked amazing! We didn't want to take any hormone birth control or implants. Too many side affects. I didn't want to risk pregnancy difficulty or other problems.

I wish I would have never went on hormonal birth control in the first place. I've been on it 5 years and I can't wait to get off and I'm excited to start FAM soon.

Im starting to become serious about tracking my cycle, i bought some ovulation tests so I can know for certain when I am ovulating. I havent taken hormonal birth control since high school, and I was only on it for three months because it made me crazy. Like hysterical crazy. for the past two years I have been using wild carrot seed tincture that I make myself to prevent pregnancy. It grows wild here in missouri and so I just collect the seeds, make a tincture and take it when im fertile or for a week after sex. my old friends looked at me like I was crazy for using plants as medicine but it works for me so im gonna keep using it.

I would like to clarify an incorrect statement you made so people don’t get the wrong idea about what FAM is. When you describe people who track on their own without a device or apps algorithm, you state, “You have to plan in advance and stop having unprotected sex based on your previous charts.” What you are describing there is the rhythm method, not FAM. There is no guessing involved with FAM. There are very clear rules and they take into consideration that some cycles you may ovulate early or late. You never use previous cycles to determine your fertile or infertile days. You stop having unprotected sex when you have any indication of cervical fluid, and continue to use a barrier method until 3 days after a temp shift.

Is there any cheaper way to track? I'm afraid the Lady Comp is not within our budget, but FAM is the route we would like to take!

Bit late to the game, but sympto-thermal methods only use a digital thermometer, one A4 print of a chart and a pencil. A proper sympto-thermal method is equally safe to the pill, which can unfortunately not be said of most apps and machines. So if you want a cheap and very safe method, look into that! Hope that helps :)

Buy the book "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility" Read all the way through and write down whatever in the book you need (if preventing write what you need in order to use the method) I found writing down the sections I needed and then learning from what I wrote was way less overwhelming than to go through the book multiple times. The method is so easy once learned and you can get a TempDrop to make things even easier (TempDrop is a wearable temperature sensor that takes your temperature for you so all you have to do in the morning is take it off and sync to its app) A normal BBT thermometer works just as well if you have a decent sleep schedule and have the ability to sleep for atleast 3 hours before taking your temperature at around the same time every day. I hope this helps anyone who comes across this video.

Is this method suitable if you want to be childfree? I'll be sexually active soon and am leaning towards the arm implant, but I've heard horror stories about hormones.

i just about choked when i saw how much the lady comp is, i’m 18 years old working minimum wage, i can’t afford that but i also can’t afford a whole baby😭
