NATURAL DISASTER: How To Keep Your Pet Reptiles Safe!

Reptile keepers in any of the southeastern states, may be wondering what they can do to prepare their pet reptiles for Dorian's ramifications, potentially as far as evacuation.
Firstly, we go over a few things you can do if you are only going to be hit by minor ramifications of the hurricane, mainly what supplies you should stock up on. Then we proceed to go over the “brian method,” a specific method to care for if you must suddenly leave your home.

We're in Orlando, and we prepped last wk. But one thing i would say is we feed our snakes prior to "landfall" (by at least 3 days) , and keep no feeders. If our power goes out, we can't keep them frozen. And the snakes eat every 7-10. By then we're back to normal. I wouldn't feed a snake unless you're positive you can keep it at perfect temp. We did buy insects (mealworms and supers bc they last long) for our lizards bc they digest faster, and our weather allows for them to keep doing so.

This is such a helpful video! When it starts getting colder, could you do a video on power-outages during the winter months? I can put my cat up my shirt or under blankies, but I doubt a ball python would be ok with that tactic...

Actually if it is only super short term and you have nothing (having heat pads or a generator would be the best) but you can put the snake in a bag or pillowcase and hold it by your body

@@froge6652 Thank you! That's a great idea! The last snowpocalypse I had was a while ago, but it lasted over a week of no electricity. Heat pads could probably work though, so I'll stock up on those. (Thankfully it doesn't happen super often, but often enough for it to be a concern.)

Some of this stuff applies to tornado or ice storms. I have had to tuck a bearded dragon under my sweat shirt when the power went out and the temp started to drop during a spring storm. Issues can happen anywhere.
