Cooling loop.... A Liquid reservoir is almost thermally inert. Contents of a reservoir DO NOT want to transfer temp with the surroundings, so the only part of your cooling loop that is picking up cold is the little bit of radiant pipe leaving the reservoir. If the Ethanol is leaving at the correct ambient temp, then everything is fine, but if your ethanol isn't cold enough, you can snake radiant pipes back and forth in the cold to pick up more chill.

I just noticed the cooking room for your Metal Refinery. That is a neat idea.

CO2 skimmer / Water Sieve loop. If you need to nuke CO2, you can place a CO2 Skimmer and water sieve together. Make it a closed loop. Bridge in a little bit of water to get it started. (not too much or you will clog it). This will run forever (relatively low power) and will eliminate CO2. Since the skimmer only turns on when it is in CO2, it will only consume power when active. Note: It uses the same amount of power whether there is a dedicated sieve for the scrubber, or if you pipe the water all the way to a centralized sieve. No reason to pipe it.

To deconstruct pipes, use the "Disconnect" tool... Scissors icon bottom right. Drag between 2 pipe segments you want to disconnect. Once the pipe is disconnected, you can deconstruct after the contents have flowed out. You can Reconnect a pipe that has been disconnected by dragging a new pipe between the 2 disconnected ends.

@@TeracomConsulting omg thank you that's what I was missing!
@TeracomConsulting2 ай бұрын
You can even use it to disconnect power to a pump or anything. Much faster and easier than sending a dupe to disable a building.

The reason for ranching critters is to accelerate their egg laying rate. So you can get several eggs in a lifetime instead of just 1. If you have too many in a ranch, they will become cramped / glum, which means their egg laying rate is the same as wild... 1 egg per lifetime. Most critters you can only fit 8 in a 96 tile ranch. (Each critter requires 12 tiles) Some critters require more space. An Egg in the ranch counts as a critter. (Including in an incubator). -------- Set max critters to 8 per ranch. Keep incubator out of ranch. If you keep incubator in, then max critters should be 7.

Your farm (meant to be cold) is directly between 2 areas that you are actively heating... One with metal refineries, other with wood burners. You are heating your farm from both sides. Moving things that are meant to be cold away from heat sources is a good idea.

@@TeracomConsulting right? Isn't it wonderful? And I've considered making an insulated farm area about 500 times. Somehow other projects always win.... Lol.

Mess tables are like beds. Each dupe needs one dedicated to them. Your dupe Morale is so low because only 3 of them are allowed to use the mess hall. If you add a recreation device to the mess hall (a party phone or water cooler (even if disabled), that will make it a Great Hall for +6 morale.

Refrigeration of food has little to do with food poisoning. Food poisoning comes from germs either on the food, or on the dupe when they eat the food. My guess is every time they hit the compost pile, they carry germs around the base infecting everything. If you look at your Germ Overlay, you may get a better idea of where the food poisoning is coming from.

Instead of dumping the CO2 from the Generator, then paying to pump it. It would be better to just pipe the CO2 from the generator. will save 240 watts. When you add additional generators, their output pipes can be combined.

Turning off a transformer also "Wastes" the charge in it. Generally not a good idea unless you have power to spare.
@TeracomConsulting2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure for the reason for turning off the transformer. It does not draw power on its own. It will only supply power to stuff downline from it when it is consumed. Note: It is a very bad idea to have batteries on the small side of a transformer. Transformers will prevent you from overloading a wire even if you try. If there is a battery on the circuit however, that will then allow any wire on that circuit to overload if there is too much draw for the wire. (1kw in the case of the normal wires). Generally, once you have Power generator and a smart battery, you want to remove all other batteries. They just leak power and generate heat. If your generation can't keep up with your average demand, extra batteries don't help, they just hurt. (By leaking power and generating heat).
@Krydax82 ай бұрын
Not quite true. Sometimes average power use has surges in demand, so you may need more than one battery. But I do get your point!
