I'm in the process of puttting my mini braids in now, I'm not braiding it that small. It's been a few days but it's worth it. This will be my style for a while by washing and re-braiding it every month to maintain the look.

I've been doing the mini braids. My hair short, but when I stretch it,it comes almost to the end of my ears. I dont make them super small but small enough, and I keep them in for about a month. Close to the end of the month I take them out and wear it as a braid out, since it's been washed about every week. Then after about a week, I braid it back up. At the moment, this is my go to protective style.

thank you for this. i just finished mini braids last night/this morning and i’m doing a challenge to keep them in for 1 year and wash and redo them every 3-4 weeks. i’m at bra strap length and i want to be waist length by the end of next year.

Thank you so much for these hair videos. I just learned two new techniques that I will be incorporating into my routines, one applying conditioner before shampoo. I use to mix a little shampoo into my conditioner, but that took to much work and I stopped doing it. I like your technique of applying conditioner first to moisturize and protect the hair before using the shampoo. I also like your technique of putting on a plastic cap after applying your leave in, I also saw you do after applying oil. I will definitely try using a bag after moisturizing my hair to seal in the products better. Thanks again

It does still look good! That's the beauty of mini braids. The only drawback is rebraiding! When I wear them, I usually drench my hair in oil to make takedown easier! Sometimes I mix the oil with conditioner and let it dry.

Good video! I wish I could wear mini braids but I have low density hair & it would be a super hot freaking mess lol. I HATE that Leave-in conditioner. I tried that the first year I started caring for my natural hair & I was like "nuh uh... I want my money back" lol. Looking forward to your next video girl!

I can relate, not only do I have low density hair but also fine strands. My mom even said I thought you had more hair on your head 🤣. But I'm sticking it out, hoping by the end of the year my hair will thicken out somehow smh. Lol

@@miss_kolissa I'm the same but if I'm not confident with how they look, I'll wear a silk wig cap and pop a natural looking wig on top of I have to go to parties etc. Other than that, I don't really care as I can wear trendy hats, caps and headwraps to work, shopping etc. I'm not even bothered about going out without covering my hair. Just if I need to get dressed up. I could pull it into a ponytail and add a faux piece for the night?!

What about frizz? I get massive frizz after one wash with mini braids. That results in breakage for me because it causes tangles and the frizzy hair dries too fast causing more breakage. Do you have problems with frizz? If so, how do you prevent breakage?

You know how some naturals wash their hair while it's sectioned in like 4-6 twists/braids? You could try that w/ the mini braids so that only your scalp is getting the manipulation from your fingers when washing it as oppose to your hair being loose and moving around so much causing friction aka frizz

So I just wash my hair in medium braid box braids no extension and am wondering if I can take own each braid one by one and split into two, because I not feel like taking down all my braids , and am wondering if I can do this each time and try to this for a year since my hair is already section in square am guessing it will be less work

I like the ends curls up a little but for me after while the curls start to curl within itself and cause knots so I only leave it so for a few days and when I re-moisturize I stretch it back out, am I month in with mini braids have no plans on washing anytime soon, my scalp is fine not itchy and no flakes, I only oil my edges front and back my plan is to go 3mos I'll see how it holds up.

@@miss_kolissa yep but its not uncommon for me to go long without washing like 5mos, I think I have an oily scalp my hair get dirty but it does not flake and itch, now since i discovered the natural community and they drill in your head to wash your hair, keep your scalp clean i have been washing 2x/mos. but I got minis now is not bout to be washing I do spritz it every other night lightly sometime 2x a day(whatever am in the mood for) and little massage to move around all that natural oil put little oil around my hairline. my hair still grows like crazy and dont stink.
