I am going to try and take my clumping to the next level! I inadvertently have done this by just keeping my hair in twists for two weeks and recycling my old parts for washday! But I really like the clumped look! A twistout without having to worry about the knots or shrinkage. 😊 Great video!

When I take out my two strand twist there's a lot of lint that turns into knots at the end of my hair. How do you avoid them and how do you get them out once there in it? Thanks
@neoagegirlthemaverick7468

I know this is old, but I thought that I would share my experience. I have very "classic" afro/cotton like hair texture that tangles soooo easily and I have been learning/experimenting and found that Naturally High is right about using coconut oil as a pre-poo. I took down some twist that where about a little over a month old so I used coconut oil only as my detangler/pre-poo. Just put it in my hair and started to gently finger detangle (don't use water as your hair will swell and begint he shrinkage process making the knots/tangles worse). I first detangled the ends then slowly used the "harp-method" of detangling and the lint, knots, and shed hair just came out like that. I was very surprised. I then put on a shower cap and slept with the oil in my hair over night then wash it out the next day (I also use clay to cleanse but I like bentonite clay, and don't use acv, except for diluted on my scalp only, as I have low porosity hair). I'm still trying it out but so far I like detangling/pre-pooing with just oils but penetrating oils like coconut and olive oil. As far as preventing lint, the only suggestion is to not wear your twists/protective styles for as long, natural hair due to its curly structure will hold onto more dirt and fibers then straight hair so it's going to happen, but if you gently cleanse your twist regularly (not more then once a week), keep them moisturized and lubricated and pre-poo/detangle with a penetrating oil then the lint amount should be significantly less and come out easier.

Thanks so much for this clumping hair management method. It has helped my tender-scalped dense 4c hair. Eg in order to install Crotchet twists on my hair or to wear a wig on flattened hair, I was able to cane row in clumps. As it's ordinarily hard to do flat-braiding (or weaving) on my meshy dense 4c hair.
