Heart of the wild spec resto druid is my favorite playstyle. you can still be a competent healer, but your value is in being able to off tank too

Moonglow is amazing efficiency but Imo it requires a high +heal set to make proper use of the % mana saved, i think best dungeon/early raid spec is Hotw hybrid 20% int when undergeared is a nice boost to mana cap to play with and not as +heal dependant

I'll still play a Druid since it's the only healer I can personally identify with on Alliance side (and my guild will go Alliance). I've mained a healing druid for ~2 years on a private server. While it's not the most fun experience and I had 0 issues getting a raid spot and didn't have to share gear with half a dozen other shamans (horde tends to bring just one priest and one druid, rest of the healers are likely to be shamans). And Shaman would be the 2nd class I could identify with, but well - since I have to play alliance if I want to stick with the guild that will very likely not happen.

These are decent spec, however moonglow really isn't relevant until later on when strong tier 2 gear kicks in. You become a blanket healer and heal the raid. In early phases this won't exactly be a great spec due to how much mana regrwoth costs. All around, I feel like HOTW is just superior to these early on due to its ability to do both roles, and have a high amount of int. There's not a massive differential between heals in a full resto build vs hotw build.

What I find weird about most healing-guides is that they are more about "preventing how to get sniped" rather than ever mentioning how to coordinate healers to prevent such a thing to begin with. Mathematically it is way more efficient to have healers take turns in healing, meaning that each healer gets teamed up with another healer and while one starts out healing, the other starts out doing dps in a way that costs no mana. When the partner's mana drops low they swap roles. This is by far the best way to make use out of all the spirit on the gear but also add some damage to the raid, that otherwise simply wouldn't be there.

usually you need most your healers healing cant have some do dps also a lot of healers do very little non mana damage, most people who go spirit have some way of continuing it in combat like druid mp5 for a lot of healers is superior

Another great spec you missed - 0/30/21, which nets you Heart of the Wild and Nature's Swiftness. A fantastic hybrid spec that allows one to both tank or heal quite effectively, and is also particularly solid for Resto play early on thanks to HOTW and that sweet sweet 20% Int buff. Not to mention good survival for PvP, and to be able to do solo content without having to respec.

That spec is not viable for serious raiding. There are too many "dead" points in the feral tree whilst on the way to the heart of the wild talent. It is decent for pvp, but this is solely a pve guide focused on raids

True, and never claimed it to be optimal. Gotta try and bring as much to the table as possible, as a druid, if one wants to land one of the two to three raid spots max that most groups will offer us generally.

You go feral and keep a healing set if you ever need to heal. You can heal just fine in feral during levelling and you can both tank and DPS as well. Basically, you can find a role in ANY group while levelling as feral. Not to mention if you are healing or DPSing and the tank dies you can pop your HOT's, shift to bear form and possibly prevent a wipe. Honestly, feral druids are the best levelling class in the game next to hunters/warlocks. Your talents and forms let you move faster than everyone 10-19 levels early, you have a ton of "oh shit" options to prevent deaths, you can stealth past mobs to reach targets, you can fill any role for dungeons and have one of the lowest gear dependances while levelling.

15/0/36 spec is awful imho. 5 points in Wrath are pointless. 3 points in Natural Shapeshifter would be better and you would still have 2 points to spare for Improved Entangling Roots.

my thoughts exactly, I prefer HOTW spec. If you know what youre doing you can make the spec work well in healing. That regrowth spec is only good later on when you have good mana and mana regen for regrowth spams.
