I hope this helps!... Downtown Charleston The center of it all, and a beautiful place to be. Urban living with several nuances to be aware of. www.natwallen.com/downtown-charleston-homes Daniel Island Very planned, but not in a bad way. Worth seeing in person to decide. www.natwallen.com/daniel-island-homes Mt Pleasant Considered the best schools, which draws a lot of people. I know schools may or may not be a a priority, but lots of families here. www.natwallen.com/mount-pleasant-homes James Island Older area, close to town and Folly Beach. More organic. Feels lived in and lots of water around. www.natwallen.com/james-island-homes Johns Island Rural but can be close to town. Second largest island on the east coast (next to Long Island). More greenspace, less developed. Traverse this area to get to Kiawah and Seabrook. www.natwallen.com/johns-island-homes West Ashley Similar to James Island but a much larger area. Also considered pretty central to get to the airport, Costco and things like that. Older, with new on the outskirts. www.natwallen.com/west-ashley-homes These are the areas I recommend if people typically are interested in seeing water and being on the coast. San Diego has its own charm. Also Charleston despite having some sketchy parts seems to be much safer then SanDiego. Charleston is a republican city and San Diego politically a democrat city even culture wise.

Once upon a time, Hampton Park actually had a small zoo. But the animals were all in small cages, not well cared for, so sometime in the late fifties or early sixties it was taken out.

I was visiting the zoo as a kid and a friend of mine got nipped by a monkey when she thought it was a good idea to put her finger into its cage. It didn't get infected, I'm surprised to say.
