Strong Female leads that don't have that shitty attitude. Movies and TV - Aeryn Sun, Zoë Washburne, Susan Ivanova, Kira Nerys, Jadzia Dax, Samantha Carter, Xena the Warrior Princess, Ellen Ripley, Kara Thrace, Buffy Summers, Brienne Tarth, Sarah Connor, Lorraine Broughton, Games - Alyx Vance, Claire Redfield, Kassandra, Samus Aran, Sole Survivor, Emily Kaldwin, Games that have multiple options: Destiny, Fortnight, just to name 2 out of many.

I mean I kind of think its ridiculous to think every female main character should be barbarella. I mean the looks is the most constant complaint I see. I'm totally fine with the other complaints about her seeming to be annoying from the little we got to see. But it was just a reveal trailer. Maybe we as a society should stop being such reactionaries. Let's react when we see more than a cinematic reveal trailer.

@@brennangum6236 I think the opposite. I think the industry has a problem with people getting in the hype train and buying everything. Just look at how many people who have a huge library of games but haven’t even touch half of them. Trailers are made to give you an idea of the game. If that isn’t good, it’s a pretty good indicator that the game won’t be good as well. I think we would benefit for being more careful about what we buy. That’s just me though. I’m broke, that’s how I do it lol

I think that’s dishonest to say. People when talking about this always talk as if these backlashes are happening in isolation. As if this is the first time there is a female character who is not conventionally attractive as the main character and people are complaining. Until when are we going to pretend women are not well represented in games? Also, this trailer is full of red flags (at least to me). It’s supposed to be a cool sci-fi action game with a bounty hunter as the mc. Then the trailer starts with the mc shaving their head. Spends most of it focusing on the mc almost narcissistically so. The mc looks very arrogant while talking to the other person. She seems over confident but then seems like she’s anxious about the mission? (Idk) Anyways, do you truly believe she will be as good and charismatic as characters like Joe, Ellie or Nathan Drake?

@@fabiosousa8523 I mean someone whos outwardly confident but inwardly nervous seems to be a pretty nuanced character to me. But I'm not gonna read that far into a reveal trailer yet.

@@brennangum6236 I agree. The red flag to me is how it was not at all subtle. She wasn’t just confident. She looked arrogant, drinking the thing as if it’s no big deal. Again, I don’t care about these stuff so much. I care here because it’s naughty dog. Even though it’s an action game, the story/characters is clearly the focus as shown in the trailer so I expect it to be good cuz otherwise why would I play it. Also a lot of the stuff I said is happening in a lot of games. If it was just this one I would probably not even notice it or care.
