That's great to hear - I was going to comment on how Canada needs to get more into these sort of drones, to guard our long coastlines and our huge arctic territory. The technology of war moves fast, and nothing seems to have jumped to the front of the line quite as decisively as unmanned systems. Canada must adapt and keep up.

It certainly makes a lot more sense than the P-8s they’ve been so keen to buy (back when the defence chief and more or less all his directs came from the airforce). That said, it’s worth looking at the purchase price. It isn’t all that much cheaper than by than buying a SAAB Swordfish and that would provide a LOT more capability.

A larger airplane can handle worse weather and descend lower; it’s a lot less sensitive to satellite disruption, it can process a lot more data, has more power surplus for active emissions and it can carry a lot more effect.
