Arguably the best explanation for compression I've seen. For me personally, the second part of dials(attack, release, knee) was the one harder to conceptualize before, visualization with graphs was tremendously helpful.

Important note about Attack (and also Release): It's not a delay from when the signal crosses the threshold - the compressor will always act *immediately* on any signal going above the threshold. What Attack actually does is determine how long it takes for it to apply *a certain amount of the compression* to the signal (usually 2/3rds, but varies), so you can say it's *how fast the compressor accelerates/ramps up* to clamp down on the signal. Release, of course, is the reverse of that.

This is hands down the best explanation of compression I've ever seen. I've struggled with understanding compression for years. I knew and could explain what all of the settings did, but I never understood the purpose of using compressors, so I never did. I always only perceived them as making sounds louder, so I used things like saturation in place of compression. This changes everything. Thank you so much.

This is easily one of the best compression explanations I've seen, hands down. Creative thinkers are often visual learners and as a graphic designer, I loved the drawings. What would have made this the best compression video I've ever seen period, would be if there were a few audio examples. Maybe at the end to wrap up the lesson. Even if you just had a kick or snare playing every time you turned a knob to show the difference. But great vid man, thank you. Keep it up

I feel like you're the only production channel that actually explains techniques in a way that makes sense. I've done courses and seen so many videos on compression and this is the first time ive actually understood it, thank you 🙏 Also you talk about alot of techniques I don't see anyone else talk about, most channels talk about the same as eachother, you actually break things down in a really easy to understand way and touch on untouched techniques. I've done a search on your channel and couldn't find it but have you done one for parallel compression?
