I’m blessed too with a Greek wife who introduced me to Greece along with her family. Now Greece is my adopted home, at least for a month or so every summer. My days there are all about being with my family, going to the beach and late dinners with friends and family.

I recently stumbled across your channel, and I think your commentary is honest and from the heart. You and I actually have lots in common. While I appreciate your dedication to your family, make sure you have an identity that goes beyond your wife and children. Keep making your videos, I am following what you're doing and taking notes! One day hopefully in the near future my wife and I will return to Greece after being away for many years and stay for a longer visit. However, we don't plan on moving to Greece and I'm happy where we are (Toronto) despite what you might hear.

Hi You’ve really started to change my mind; my first choice for resettling to Greece from the UK (like you I was born in London), was Heraklion, and now you are changing my mind to moving to Nafplio instead! It looks so lovely, vital, and interesting. Watching your well-made, intelligent vids. I am already retired; ex hotelier own/general manager, ex travel agent (trained by BA), now successful amateur karaoke singer, not so successful historical novelist, cookery book writer, qualified to teach small groups of people English as a foreign language, speak a little Greek, been travelling to Greece for 50 years, travel and food writer, keen pseudo-Greek cook; human rights activist, cat lover. If I do decide to move to Nafplio I will pay for your advice. Have a lovely time!

Your podcast was my comfort zone. That's how much I loved it man. It was hard letting it go bro. It was time to make my own. Now I have listeners that eagerly await the next episode like I did yours. The gift you gave me I could never reoay. Thsnk you. Anyway Demi is a visionary .She's the creative lifeforce behind your brand and you're abundantly blessed because of the love and reverence you have for your family. Funny monologue. I am Swedish, and my wife is Bulgarian. We live in Bulgaria. Now, my mentality is that the one who sees or stands close to the problem, solve it. Clean the floor, start the dish washer. Etc. Etc. If I did not have my wife, my business would not work. She is the CFO and I have no voice, she is a computer in herself. I am an excellent sales guy, so yin and yang are balanced. But whatever you do, it is not about you, it is about us.

I'm starting to learn Greek. Why are there so many similarities between Greek and Spanish? For example Audio and Adios. Spanish is a language that evolved out of Latin, and Greek is its own thing, the two don't have much in common, other than that they are both descendants of the original Proto Indo European language. Please shed light on this.
@hermonymusofsparta5 ай бұрын
Greek has a lot of loan words from Latin because for over a thousand years the Eastern Roman Empire was mainly Greece and Western Anatolia with various other territories coming and going. The dominant language was Greek but the people called it Romeika and identified themselves mainly as Roman. The Roman law from Justinian onward was in Greek but used Latin words transliterated into Greek. Latin had also borrowed heavily from Greek before the middle ages so both languages have borrowed from each other which might explain in some way why Spanish also has these similarities.

Ask your wife something for me - why don't Greek women befriend each other, I have lived here 36 years and I've had 'acquaintances' with Greek women, but I have never had a friend. All my friends come from all around the world, I used to have shops in my Greek town so it's not like I haven't had contact, I worked at a school years ago, where I worked with 17 Greek girls. I'm not to blame as I'm a 'woman's - woman' I have loads of friends - just not Greek women. When my children were young I went by my Greek neighbour and she said 'you are the only woman I've had in my house, do you want to take my husband?' WHAT??? I have one Greek husband I don't want another!! We foreign ladies meet up and go out together without our kids and husbands, Greek women think this is unacceptable. Just a question for your wife. Personally I've given up trying, but it would be nice to know what goes through the minds and why.

Hearing stories of non-Greek men being married to Greek women feels like sci-fi to me. I am Greek myself and in my 35 years on this planet I've always found that Greek women possess some qualities that make them utterly unattractive and therefore kept them at arm's length. But this is my personal opinion. Good on yo mate for finding your special person...
@riateor22435 ай бұрын
as a greek woman and seeing other greek women as humans and not love interest I have to agree with you that a lot of them have a lot of unattractive qualities, that transcend over to their friendships or colleagues even. however as a greek straight woman I also think the same about greek men. most of them possess utterly unattractive features to me, possessive, close minded, most want just sex and if they dont want sex they want to control your every move and think they doing you a favour they be working when you have a family together. also most of them do not know what they want and then there are those who would date just any woman just because she has a pussy. greek men are real hard to deal with. honestly Ive had much easier communication with foreign western men that I did with most greeks.
