I am new to your channel. I can't imagine the pressure of being a captain having to know all things yachts and engine management. Then there is the weather and what to do with boat maneuverability. I'm excited to learn. 😎

That may be one of the best operations videos so far. How things work is almost as interesting as watching it happen. And of course, watching it happen makes you realize the skill you have and care you take in all aspects of running the equipment. Love it. Thank you!

Hey Tristan, I'm really happy that you back, I started to follow your work back in the AWOL days with zero knowledge or experience with sailing. Since that I had a few bareboat charters in Croatia and I'm preparing to sail out in september again. Thanks to your videos I had the courage to start learning this beautiful profession and managed to nail my first charter without any damage, only based on the knowledge I learned watching you explaining everything and seeing the guys working on AWOL. Among many things your attitude was the most important thing I took from your videos and I'm sure it's making all the difference when I take the helm for a charter. Being calm, prepared and disciplined is the key for a safe and fun charter in my eyes and I'm really grateful that I learned it watching you and not by making costly and dangerous mistakes. Many thanks for your time and effort that you put in making videos, and please continue, so I can learn even more :D and a big thanks as well for the ex-AWOL and the Espiritu Santo crew for their cooperation. Who knows, maybe once in the future I pull up into the same anchorage as you :D

Then store a copy somewhere in an electronic log which get’s backed to the cloud (onshore somewhere not onboard) hourly, daily, or weekly whichever make sense for your processes or situation. You don’t want keep and store all those completed checklists scans (pdf is best) on your smartphone beyond a certain time.

Interesting seeing you in Messina without too much of the fishing boats and ferries. I went through the Messina straits at night. Three deck officers on the bridge with binoculars, so many pots, fishing boats and ferries. perhaps they come out at night. Keep going Tristan, very interesting always.

Love the channel. Love how you go through exactly what you do and how you do it. The checklist was great. As a former Officer of the Deck on a 14000 ton US Navy ship we lived and died by checklist. It was also back in the day when we didn’t have GPS or auto pilot as well! Lol I had other responsibilities on the ship but what I ’d loved to do more than anything else was the operational driving of the ship. Leaving and entering port were the functions that gave us the most enjoyment if that’s the right word? Keep up the good work Captain. 😊

That wind was Maestrale (Northwest wind) to the West of Corsica and Sardinia, but when its not overly strong, it usually "ripples" up north around the 2 big islands so it will definitely be a Libeccio (SW), in the area you are leaving. Anyway, smart move and great planning to sneak thru Messina Strait. Good care of your guests.

We boat on west coast in US and Canada. Not open ocean but island and inside passage to AK. There are fewer boats of all sizes out this year. Weather has been wet and cold and winds high at times. Based on other boaters 32 to 56 feet they are doing less due to costs. Your type of boat I have not talked to any but assume it is weather conditions that have reduced travel.

Hey Captn - Glad to see you back on the High Seas. I missed these educational videos while you weren't on a large Yacht. Please do more, even when you aren't employed! I had dreamt of getting a Captain license decades ago, along with a Pilots license but life got in the way. It would be nice if you could touch on some of the subjects every Captain needs to know! I particularly enjoy these step by step narated videos, especially on the complicated but not often discussed topics. You may want to consider 1) How to use each instrument (thru separate videos), 2) Navigation, 3)what you do differently on Open water versus being in Coastal waters, etc.

Micro-economics: fewer yachts in the Mediterranean this season…reason is simple…high net worth individuals are reducing spending in the expectation that the world economy is shaky. Just wanted to say if it's not a lot of trouble and You find the need for more content , might I suggest just mounting the camera outside and catch a 30 minute or more sunset .Or even 10 minute would be nice. Something to view as one would be winding down for the evening . A video of the night skyline of some of the places You visit at dusk or dawn with sound of water rippling against the boats . It is something that most of Us will never get to experience . Another is Video of a nice lighting storm moving across the water or up the shore line . You have the opportunity to catch some awesome video I would imagine . Anyway good stuff and Glad Your back at the Helm .
