Great introduction, interested to see how it works out for longer trips.

That tablet looks the goods. I'm using the OEM that comes with the 2023 PR7 with the DMD software and maps - it's great, particularly the colour coding of the roads, off roads seens to be on a type of difficulty scale indicating single track etc.. I do use the 'follow' mode though so the map swings around as the bike does and always points the track ahead.. keeps me sane 😅

@@ozadv Yeah agreed after this trip I'll be doing the follow mode. That's why I was missing turns Thanks for watching Regards Steve

I've had the DMD T865 for about a year and love it. While not completely faultless it's great. I just wish it was about 20% brighter.

@@MotoExplorer-au That's good to hear your loving it. Makes me a bit happier I made the right decision. Bought a shade for mine in case I find it a bit dull but so far so good Thanks for watching Regards Steve

Careful Steve, I will school you on which map 😂. There is some solace knowing that none of the map packages are perfect. Hema, good for zoom in and out big picture planning but otherwise it’s seriously wanting in detail. Garmin, explore oz, typically the most consistent for detail and accuracy, maps off line but you have to be a user to ‘know it’, the most reliable! Gaia has the best maps (you can get good quality maps), great for making gPX routes quickly but it’s a pain to download maps to have the offline. As you know I’m a GPX person and on-the-fly navigator. I never use my gear as a nav-man and can’t comment on the spoon-fed functionality.
