+Dekoyz08 If there is an operational Chow Hall you do not get BAS. Even if you live outside of the ship if there is an operational Chow Hall you do not get BAS. As of January 1st 2016 It is 368.29.

I was wondering about the kitchen, since I cook my own meals, but I saw the comment at the bottom addressing it. Thanks. I think you should look into an app called Diaro for your journal entries. It's the one I use. I sync it up to Dropbox and I can use it across all of my devices, including my PC through the internet. Writing during bootcamp I can understand, but now that you have an internet connection, it's impractical to have stacks of journals taking up space, in my opinion. If you write as much you say, then lugging all those journals around will not be fun, and time can wreak havoc on the pages etc. Same with books. I think that you would enjoy a tablet. I only buy physical books if they're not available in digital format, or for gifting purposes. I'm gonna have to donate all of my books when I leave for bootcamp. It's not practical to lug them around. Hey, maybe you just enjoy the ritual of writing and turning the page, I do too. At least for your journal entries, scan every entry after you finish and save the PDFs to a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox. Thanks again for doing good works.

I’m currently living here in Huntington hall and have been for about 8 months now. It’s not terrible, but it’s not the best. The downstairs is nice, and it’s cool to have a gym as well. The rooms are a bit small, but overall is could be a lot worse.

Yes, go to Barnes and Nobles and you don't have to buy it. Look through it, get some idea what its going to be like. Or even sit down and go through the ASVAB book and write stuff down on a seperate notebook.

During this moment. The ship's galley was not operational. Therefore they had people living outside the ship. We did not live in a base, therefore we could not use base galley. So they gave us BAS.

Quick question, what are the rules for leaving the base Yoon?Do sailors have the freedom to go where they want on their free time, or are there restrictions? Also are there any curfews?

+Kadine Atkinson In A school there will be curfews. However, in the fleet (at least in my command) as long as you show up to work next day and you perform you can do whatever you want. As far as going places as long as its not over a certain mileage it is okay. For example if you are going over 300 miles to go home for weekend then you would need to let the Navy know by filling out a request chit. Just incase you get into an accident.

Hey Koleen. In my opinion it really depends on where you get stationed. Some people have it luckier than others. Some people spend (for example) 4 years out at sea and barely have time to do school. Some people get shore duty for most of their 4 years and have more time for school. It really is luck of the draw what you get. In my best opinion I would say an associates would be realistic in 4 years while in service.

Currently I am enjoying Awaken The Giant Within by Antony Robbins, I have also finished yesterday a short book of Managing Oneself by Peter Drucker (which was very interesting), and I personally like to read Thinking Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill multiple times.

Two me these were great generals of their time especially Vespasian. You should look him up on KZbin because he was like yourself in the beginning of his military career. He also was a money miser.

Their definition of Phase is different from ours. A school phase there is three. The exact detail will differ from school to school but the idea is similar. For example. Phase 1: be within your barracks by 9pm. Not allowed to wear civilian clothes. Not allowed to leave the base. Phase 2: curfew by 10pm. Allowed to wear civilian clothes. Not allowed to leave base. Phase 3: No curfew. Allowed to wear civilian clothes. Allowed to leave base. That is just an example.
