Don't anyone ever take for granted your parent, son, daughter, when they're in the military. I grew up in a military family, and we've had many emotional reunions like this. You never know that when you say goodbye, it might just be the last time you see them. For a kid growing up in the 60's, having a father in Vietnam, not once, but three times, made me cherish each day we had him with us. It was hard, but it was harder on him. I'm done watching these videos now - they're too draining.

I love these homecomings. It wasn't like this when we came back from Vietnam. Oh our families loved to see us and since I lived in a rural area, everyone there was glad to see me but beyond that I could feel the stares at me. It took ten years for me to finally feel loved. That is when I met the girl who I would eventually marry. Unfortunately she had to spend many nights just listening to me when I would get depressed.

Growing up, there was nothing more exciting than seeing my father on the deck of an aircraft carrier returning home from a long cruise. We always knew that special day was coming because our mother bought us a new suit or blazer outfit to meet him when he came home. I came home from three tours in Vietnam 68, 69, 70-71 and surprised my parents by knocking at their door. In 2016, we had a surprise for my youngest daughter at work, she worked at a casino and had security call her to a closed off area where my grandson, her oldest son, was there after returning home from Afghanistan.

From the UK, thank you, you brave men and women from the USA. The American civilians sometimes, and Europeans most definitely, do not realise how grateful we ought to be for you Americans and the sacrifice your men and women and their families they leave behind have had to pay... I want pay tribute to the brave men and women that serve in my own country's military and the sacrifice they've made in many of the same wars you've fought in, but I want any of you Americans out there reading this to realise we may not agree with your politicians on certain occasions, just like we do not agree with our own politicians a lot of the time, but its about time we recognise the brave, heroic valour your people posses. In the name of our freedom, THANK YOU!

I love these videos. I was a Vietnam veteran and when I came home my family couldn't wait to see me. Since I lived in a small rural community and the draft fell heavily in those communities from 1967 to the end of the war there were always young men going off to serve or coming home. There was hostility in the airports but not in our small community.

@4mymunro10 жыл бұрын
SpicyTaco It is sad for the loss of how many innocent children and families that are killed in Afghanistan. But there are children that are bought up in that society of the rebels. So they have no choice but to follow their fathers and leaders, if they don't. They mostly would get shot and stoned to death. But remember it wasn't just Americans forces in Afghanistan.
@jasonhong199810 жыл бұрын
SpicyTaco Why don't you stop talking like you know the answer to the situation. If it was as easy as you say, World Peace would have probably been achieved by now. But you have no idea how complicated things are do you. You know what. Why don't you go to Afghanistan and tell them? Why don't you become a soldier and risk your life to tell them what you just said. You think they will even listen to you? And most damn importantly why don't you try leaving your luxury life in America where you have good homes, sources of food, Jobs, superior education, ect, and try living in their poverty. You wouldn't last a week. You think you know shit about death? Its not pretty. And unlike your stupid video games where after you die you click respawn, they don't come back. So lets say they lost against us. Then they back to their even worsened and unending poverty, or they surrender. Then they still go back to their poverty. You think a getto person or a homeless person in the streets of Chicago are poor? There are million who wish they could get to at least that position. Why don't you grow up and see the real world. Scumbag.
@jasonhong199810 жыл бұрын
+SpicyTaco Funny. You tell me don't be mad but the reality is I completely shut your mouth. And you can't say anything else back, there really is nothing for your shit mouth to say. is there. Reducing yourself to making it look like I got mad therefore maybe people will side with you if they read the comments. But in reality, I simply made a statement in Caps. Caps, no caps. It makes little difference to the fact that you ran out of things to say and I shut your mouth. LOL
