Nice fly! 8 shimmers, 15 legs, 4 bead colors, 7 wire ribbing colors... I get 3,360 combinations of flies. Sizes 12 to 24 puts us at 23,520. Better start tying...

Tim, another outstanding video. For my money, the best on the internet. I sing your praises and recommend your videos to my fly tying friends all the time. Have you ever considered attending any of our fly tying expos out here in the wild, wild west? Idaho Falls, Boise, Salt Lake City, etc? Once again, thanks for the great videos and inspiration.

It's a really great idea to add the rubber tail to a perdigon-type nymph. I will surely try it in April when the trout season starts.

I have watched and benefitted greatly from all of your videos. I love your account and want to thank you for all your helpful, detailed instructions . Would you please consider making videos for a mosquito, psycho prince or a schroeder's parahopper? I think all three are very effective and once again want to thank you for making so many people great at tying flies.

Watch this video a couple of times this morning. Great detail and commentary -- you always do! Will add it to my "flies to tie" list. I use Sulky on occasion but didn't know there was a wide bobbin that would hold the spools. Can't find any reference on the web. Any suggestions as to where to look for one. Thank you.

This looks like a variation of the perdigon fly patterns. I've had some good luck with an orange holo-tinsel body with a chartreuse hot spot collar. I'll have to try it with the rubber legs!

@deadlyshark54398 жыл бұрын
Guessing you have 8 kinds of thread, 20 kinds of rubber, 4 kinds of hooks paired with 4 bead colors, and 7 kinds of wire, it comes out to be about 17920 different kinds

the fly looks very effective overall the fish that eat small insects like bluegill, brown and rainbow trout, and maybe even some small mouth and largemouth Bass!

Considering just what was shown in the video (and ballparking the centipede leg varieties at 12), I’m getting the following: 8 sulky colors 12 centipede leg colors 4 hook sizes 4 bead colors 7 wire colors This would yield 8x12x4x4x7 = 10752 possible combinations.

I have always been tying flies, but I would like to start tying nymphs and dry flies. What materials would you recommend to tie nymphs and dry flies for eastern U.S trout
@joshhigdon49518 жыл бұрын
J Mchugh I'm not tightline, but I do fish the south east. for starting out, you can't go wrong with peacock herl rabbit dubbing copper wire pheasant tail mallard flank feathers various beads lead wire (if wanted) tungsten beads are good Those are a few basics to get you started and will cover most patterns on the fly. once you get flies like the zug bug, pheasant tail, copper johns, and hares ears, you'll move on to more intricate patterns (if you want). but those will cover almost any situation.

J. Stockard carries Lightning Strike jig hooks in 25 or 100 packs. www.jsflyfishing.com/lightning-strike-jf2-barbless-60-degree-jig-fly-hook If that doesn't work for you or if they're out of stock on this size you want, just punch JF2 Lightning Strike Jig Hooks into google and you'll find them i'm sure.

Is the bondic the same as Loon Outdoors UV fly finish? I've been using the Loon Outdoors stuff and it doesn't work well for me. The finish doesn't stay clear and can get cloudy and translucent, almost opaque, often before the nymphs are even used. If I only use it for wing cases, the bead I put on it sometimes just pops off. It can pose a problem when I coat whole nymphs with it as well, like on zebra midges or nymphs like this and it will hide or discolor the materials. I don't always use it for this reason, and wonder if it is even necessary or makes a difference with durability. Does this ever happen when you use the bondic?
@jordanhirsch64847 жыл бұрын
Biologist Angler coat the fly with whatever kind of UV cure . After you cure it put a quick coat of either Sally Hansens hard as nails or hard as hull cement . It will make it really glossy and it will make it so the fly doesn't get cloudy .
