After 26 years of life, I just now realized after they all lined up that a drum line is all the parts of a mobile drum set. Bass, snare, and toms. They even have a high hat in there!
@jacobdionne43342 жыл бұрын
Drum lines existed before the advent of the drum set
@DrummerJacob2 жыл бұрын
This is where the drumset came from actually. During the depression bands had to downsize and combine roles and at the same time technology was improving on how to manipulate cymbals, drum tension and the movement of the drum angles, plus electricity and modern inventions like ceiling fans and later air conditioning meant that instead of marching around or standing up, musicians started to play indoors because customers and audience members wanted that and the bands catered. Early drum sets were nothing more than a bass drum, a lowboy (old hi hat cymbals that sat on the floor), a snare drum and a China drum (tom tom as we know it today). They had to consolidate jobs! It used to be one man's passion and pride to be a bass drummer or a cymbalist in a drum & fife corps, drum & lyre, drum & bugle or drum & whatever really. :)
