Yes you have a choice where you want to be, but it depends on how good you do in your schooling. If you finish the top of your class than you get a choice of where you want to be stationed. The majority of the people in the Navy will eventually be deployed on a Ship, its just a matter of when.

0:00 thus a legend was born a life where a man meets girl and gets a dog named Papa who goes onto have a future Navy seal baby name Weston as Mrs.Suits wanted to name the baby Easton but Jt said it sounded too much like the baseball glove so they name him Weston. In a world where this sexy beast of a man would go onto have a nice house in Washington and pass through 100k subs. Okay I really need a life.

Yes , I went home after A school for about 12 days ... then i went to C school. It depends on how fast you have to check in to your new command after A school. So i didn't have to be in my C school till october 2011 , and i graduated A school in september 2011 ... so i gotta a couple weeks off.
@jtmnavy11 жыл бұрын
Ah no worries man, I have a little fear of needles myself and I was fine. Your going to be so tired that first week that your going to barely even remember it.... They basically have everybody in a line, and you walk down a hallway. There are people with the shots at each end of the hallway. Takes about 2 minutes to get everything, than your done :) ...... Don't stress out about things like that, just take it one day at a time. GL !

I'm actually looking forward to Basic Training now. Seems like I'll learn a lot of useful skills there. I think I'll make some videos of my own, also. Probably one before Basic, after Basic and then a few more following that.

yes the "schooling" is only 5 weeks, but that's not counting the time you will be waiting to class up in pensacola after bootcamp. You also will go to C school most likely in san diego or jacksonville. I was in pensacola for A school for 2 months , than I was in jacksonville for C school for a total of 3 months before i went to my first squadron.

What I meant was that you will have to wait in DEP a lot longer than a couple years ago. For most jobs you are going to be waiting 3 months to a year before you even ship out to bootcamp. It's because there are so many people trying to join the military, ever since the economy took a hit
@icecrush8211 жыл бұрын
the navy is one of the best branch beside the AF.They provide excellent training for IT and electricians
@jtmnavy10 жыл бұрын
Yes , you will serve time on a ship .... there are certain jobs where you dont though.. P-3 squadrons never get deployed on ships , they fly out to different countries and work from land , there are other jobs you can get into but its very difficult

good luck bro , remember the first 2 weeks are going to suck , after that it's going to be a lot easier

Well being a CS in general has its ups and downs.... The plus side of being a cook in the Navy is that you can get a lot of hook ups and connections on the ship because everybody loves food :) .. The bad parts are that you work really long hours out at sea, and if your a e-4 and below you will probably just be making big batches of rice our vegetables ect ..... Now if you are an MA in the Navy, you will have good training that will help you be a cop when you get out...

Yes, you can take college classes for free while you are active duty through tuition assistance. You have to be with your squadron for 1 year though before they let you apply for classes. Although some squadrons make exceptions. When we are deployed, we work 12 on 12 off , while we are on the beach we work usually 8-10 hours with the weekends off.

If you are attached to a squadron, than you will only go on deployment when the ship your squadron is attached to goes on deployment. If your ship is in dry docks or getting worked on ect., than you will be on the beach. You won't always be on a ship when you are with a squadron, you most likely will go on a 6 month deployment every 2 years or so.

@grap95111 жыл бұрын
No worries... The last I heard, the Navy is still taking people, but you will have along wait in DEP (Delayed Entry Program). The most likely scenario is you will enlist, but have to wait from 3 months to a year before you even go to bootcamp. Unless you qualify for a spec ops job or nuke, those jobs go really quick. The dental and health is great. I can go set up an appointment for teeth cleaning whenever i want, same thing if i'm having a medical issue.

As for boot camp for the Navy, being a good enough swimmer is needed too. Learn to do dead man floats, learn the breast or side stroke, pass the minimum time limits, high dive, all of that. I had a cousin and an uncle who both were Navy. And they told me that it's an obvious give away, swimming IS required. Gun training with airsoft also gets you into the slight feel of it, while boot camp has simulating guns that mimic real recoil.

good evening..my significant other just left for boot camp at great lakes today. we were told by different people to wait til get married after boot camp. But now their telling him he's going straight to a-school after boot camp (california) . so how is it even possible for us to get married. of course i haven't talk to him so i don't know if he knows any new information. we have two children 2 yr& 2 month old. I'm trying to stay strong for our family but the thought of not being reunited is killing me...I don't know much about the military at all this is all new for me..hope you can read this soon. thank you

He will be able to take leave and fly out to you after his A school so you can get married. Being married in the Military gives you a lot of benefits and will be very helpful for your family. Tell him to talk to his Chain of Command so he can go see you.

I've been thinking about joining the navy, just finished college and not really having luck finding a job/career. I guess I could try to go in as an officer since i have a degree. A small part of me is pretty addicted to video games, kind of scared of basically not being able to play xbox as silly as that sounds, been playing it for over 10 years.

Yes you are allowed to date other sailors , but they can not be officers or chiefs or your supervisor , because that is fraternization. And we are not paid by the hour. We get a certain amount of pay each month depending on what rank you are. Also I get an extra 320 dollars a month for food. And if your married you can get up to 2000 dollars for housing costs.

No civilian clothes for the first 3 months for our command at FLEASWTRACENPAC. I was a Sonar Technician. Our sonar A school was all classroom time. Other schools depended on what it was. We had one school on how to load torpedoes onto helicopters. It was a lot of hands on. Real laid back because we were in the fleet a while. I have been out long enough to spawn a new generation of serviceman but all these years later, despite how there were times I hated and wondered who I crossed to get this bullshit detail I look back with fondness and would go do a deployment right now. It's an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime, not like the time YOU drank a bunch of beer from that place who didn't clean their taps out and you shit yourself at quarters. Quarters is like role call in the morning where you get your duties and hear of the ships plan for the day. POD. Yes we had a Petty Officer Shitty in our Division. He got sent to Alcohol Rehab. That happens too if you cant behave responsibly and show up for work in the morning cuz you are wasted. If you can do it and don't have a job waiting at Daddy's business or college all paid for, if you haven't a clue about what you want to do, and have no marketable skills, live in some dead end town where Walmart is the major employer, are just sitting on mommy's couch being a load on your parents, walk, no, run to your recruiters office. At the very least you will learn one thing, you don't want to spend your life in the Military. You can go to school with the GI bill, get ahead of other people when applying for any government jobs, get a great GI home loan. A great deal considering you are some know nothing, slack jawed, cant stand straight gamer with nothing on the ball. Go see the world, drink beer, get accosted by strange women in foreign ports looking to share their social disease with you for a few dollars. Ah the Sailors life for me!
