Clint we have done a lot of traveling by cruise ship. I came up with the idea of sharping a table knife from the Buffet / Coffee shop, this worked well. I tested making one at home, funny these knife are forged and take a good edge. I carried a Smith brand ceramic/ carbide edge dresser. It took about 5-15 minutes to fix the butter knife edge and I could get it shaving sharp. Some were real bad. So I would produce A new one everyday. I could carry one in my sock, when I got back to the ship I would end up tossing it in a trash can in the port. If I didn’t leave the ship I would drop it off in the dirty dishes on a room service tray.

More solid advice from a man that has been around the block a few times. Acknowledging that bad things happen to just about anyone, just about anywhere is paramount. None of us is immune to trouble. Being aware of what is going on around you is the next order of business. Scumbags LOVE people that are preoccupied, unaware of things occurring right next to them. Observe [ see what's happening ]. Orient [ acknowledge these things for what they are ]. Decide [ you must have chosen a course of action beforehand ]. Act [ get yourself in gear and take action ]. Wolves want to hang out where sheep are plentiful and where no sheepdogs are seen. You may very well be your own first [ and perhaps only ] responder. Conduct yourselves accordingly, or not. It's your choice.

I appreciate this video Mr. Emerson. It was good that you emphasized that when it comes to weapons, that one must consider the jurisdiction. Too many presenters overly encourage people to have a truck gun, a concealed pistol, a knife, a flat head screw driver, etc. without ever warning people to only carry these things if they are legally able to based on their location.

It would be very nice if one day you make maybe a short video on possible and effective self defense in the UK, because all the usual items here are prohibited (and even if you have the short non-folding knife and deploy it at the time of crisis, there's a big chance that you will be in jail instead of the criminal who attacked you), and it's quite hard to think of something really useful. To use your analogy of speeding and using upcoming brake lights as a measure if you need to slow down------if you never speed then you dont care about gauging the lights ahead of you----thus if you are allways ready to take care of yourself then your fine....easier to allways be ready then get ready when convenient.......i allways tell people that I and them are the same----just a "little timing" difference---for example: joe nobody goes shopping for supplies when a hurricane is coming 2 days before it comes and I go shopping a year before any hurricane comes...same idea...just timing..applies to most daily and survival scenarios
