This is a recurring behavior. As a civilian, I am aware of this trend lately. It seems as though the pilots are trained to perform these close high-speed fly-bys w/o damaging their planes. As you remember, one of our large drones didn't do so well in the Black Sea.. I'm not suggesting we try similar manuvers or shoot missles, but put more acft on the intercept mission arranged to deter such behavior. I realize that many plane is unnecessary, but it's better than losing a plane and pilot over nothing.

That is a regular incident that both sides make. The purposes is to get as much data 360 degrees of the radar cross-section of the adversary especially if it's new. The more dangerous ones involve enticing the other to fire its missiles and get as much information.
