So I was going to wait until end of 2nd reset before doing a Naxx vid, but I just really want to talk about it!
I think it's fair to say for the first time, many many guilds will be seeing some real progression on this final tier.

it's only expensive if you want it to be. 90% of guilds who originally cleared Naxx had bare minimum consumables. It took a little longer, but who cares. The time you spend farming consumables you don't even need takes more time than the entire raid anyway

Thanks for mentioning the “throw gold at the problem until it goes away” We were hardstuck on Sapphiron in our first clear, we had been raiding for 5 hours and wbuffs was long gone, yet raidleaders forced us to continue popping GFPP every attempt (alongside rest of the consumes) just so healers could get a feel of the fight.. we finally decided to stop and Pick up what was left a few days later fully wbuffed.. and 1 shotted both ofc..

My guild is on Skeram and while our ideal outcome would have been a day 1 clear, we at least managed a lot of server 2nd and 3rd kills with a week 1 clear. Feels great when going up against guilds like Onslaught with their distilled wisdom spam and swapping in of over 100 characters throughout their clear.

Progressing in Naxx has been by far the most fun I’ve had since Classic was released. Our guild uses a zero world buff policy and we managed to down Sapph last night. Hopefully KT on Sunday!

Therefore, they now test 90% of the raid publicly and tune up numbers/add final tweaks behind the scenes before the final release so it's not 100% mapped out but there's a cap on how many things can go critically wrong.

@@erichall090909 it is super easy. It's just that most people are too stupid to go through one mechanic. People in classic were spoiled from mc-aq that they were only looking at speed clears over mechanics. Long story short people have to learn how to play the game properly to clear the game now.

There's a reason why this raid was cleared by so few guilds back in 2006, and not just because TBC had been announced. After all, Blizz has all but confirmed that they are doing TBC Classic.

But they mentioned that they want to offer everyone the experience they want to witness also, which could assume that they also want to provide TBC servers, WOTLK server, ... I guess we will receive updates at Blizzconline in February. Currently I believe they will auto-upgrade current servers to TBC and provide "new" servers for classic only where players can copy their chars over if they want to play classic only. This would probably be the least overhead to them as from my talking with other people I have the feeling that 80+% of the current playerbase will continue with TBC.

The weird thing is, our guild has only killed 7/15, but we started with Patchwerk, and killed him both weeks without a wipe. We had a little bit of a scary moment on the first kill, but the second was smooth AF. I've seen many higher tier guilds than ours have major issues with him. The only other two bosses we have downed without a wipe yet are Grobb and Faerlina. Gluth was rough (heh), and we had a couple issues with the first two Anub attempts. Thaddius is just an easy boss with one mechanic that if one person messes up on becomes an impossible boss.

It kind of makes sense that Naxx is a bit of a reality check, since the other raids were nerfed multiple times during Vanilla and the Classic versions were all the final nerfed versions, plus with all the better itemized talents and gear being immediate instead of much further in, those raids were all insanely easy. Naxx however, all of that was already implemented, all the better gear was present, all the world buffs were there, the flask expectations, consumables, all was there when they designed this raid, and it was brutal. Think back to actual Vanilla progression and having to figure out all these new boss mechanics for players who were used to easy fights and how hard this was to get through. It was a tough time. My old guild only beat 3 or 4 bosses before TBC was soon enough to come out that nobody cared to progress anymore into Naxx.

Honestly the hardest boss in all of classic has been Attrition, our tuesday raid hasn't been able to finish naxx just cause we can't get a full 40 to show up, even with that we're still 11/15 if we could get a solid 6-7 people showing up we'd be set.

Your analysis is spot on. You cannot just zerg through naxx and ignore the mechanics. The mechanics are the most important thing to success. We are 12/15 with no WBs. A bunch of wipes from learning mechanics, but after those are learned then you can start consuming and getting WBs to speed up clear times. What took us 2 sessions on week one, only took 3/4ths of one session week 2. This week we are hoping to get to 12/15 in one night, spend the rest of that time on 4 horseman, and use the 2nd night for Sapph and KT. Naxx truly requires a cohesive raid team, you cannot have 20 people who don't know what they are doing and be successful. Its also a check on healer skill. Up until naxx most healers were just heal bots, now priests have main mechanics they have to do, and other healers actually have to pay attention to things other than their raid frames or they can cause a wipe. I'm loving the ego check on the "top" guilds on a lot of servers, seeing them struggle is fantastic, especially the warrior stacking, chain heal spam, zug zugs. That doesn't work in this raid.

My guild is 12/15 now. We only had 2 test tries on 4H. As nobody expected we'd actually get there. So the warriors didn't bring their reels and stuff. But my god Naxx is great. The lay out in great, the bosses are much harder. The mechanics are very original. With the Heigan Dance and the polarity shift on Thadius for example. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Friendly tip. Noticed your guild doesn't use CoR on Patchwerk. It doesn't affect Hateful Strike damage, so there is no reason not to use it, as long as your MT can take the extra damage.

Nobody really believed the people who played vanilla that Naxx wasn't a total joke and would require some effort and progression to be made by most to clear it even with knowing the strats and a good working DBM. Little error in your video: the resistances gained from mark of the wild does not stack with frost resistance aura/frost resistance totem/magic resistance potion. This means their effect is 'only' an added 40/40/30 resistance (in case of no improved motw). It might still be worth it to use the magic resistance potion above greater frost protection potion, but it's not as clear cut. Can anyone do the math?

My guild is basically doing real progression for the first time. By the time we started MC we were already downing it one night, BWL took us till the second week to down but that was a gear issue more than anything. AQ40 went down in the first week, and now into naxx we're in week 2 and at 9/however many bosses which is actually pretty satisfying.

My guild had their first serious attempt on patch yesterday. We had a really unfortunate fear and wiped on totem packs. I was absolutely gutted. We’re one of the middle performing guilds, and the others on my server that has killed patch, has had their world buffs as far as I know. And then we flippin went and killed it first try anyways! We had first stab last week and weren’t even close to able to kill it. So we had all tried to figure out how to beat it. Everyone brought whatever they thought would help kill it I think. I’m so proud of them!

WBs is a real nice cushion in Naxx. Jeah you can easily wipe (even on trash) but some bosses are just a joke with WBs compared to no WBs

It's not about flasking either, except maybe if you're a Tank or a Caster Dps and even then, maybe just till you get your T3... I Healed Naxx(Full Clear) in Full T1 with blue Trinkets and the best healing mace in the game 'Hammer of Grace' *Had No Issues whatsoever without a Flask... Took 7th on Healing Overall, got First/Second on a few bosses, but I'm probably the most under geared Healer in the Group, and It's more noticeable in Naxx than AQ where I'm typically in the Top 5 if not Top 3 Over All Healing in AQ my Guild Council is just Clicky ASF

@@hellfrost333 As a Priest maybe, as a Paladin/Druid with crap gear you got carried. Healing Meters are still worthless. Tanks need a Flask. DPS not so much. As a Healer on Patch (OT) and Sapph you certainly need to flask, if you want to pull your weight that is. If you are doing Sapph/Patch with 15-16 Healers, jeah no Flask needed.

Loving naxx. My guild is progressing on 4H. we are 12/15 currently. Takes about 1k gold per week on my mage to stay fully consumed 🥺 we have 2 raid days per week. Hopefully we get to that big brain faster clear one night a week that you speak of.

The only expectation that wasn't turned to reality for me, was that the top guilds were struggling Ii thought they would breeze through the content without much difficulty. But everything else seems in-line with what i thought would happen: Not many guilds manage to clear week 1, most struggle on sapphiron and world buffs run out before you hit sapphiron. My own guild cleared 15/15 first week, did 4 wings first raid night came back 2 days later and did saph+kt. Honestly i was a bit disappointed in Vanilla Naxx, you can skip so many mechanics due to excellent DPS such as Heigan dance, Anubs 2nd phase, Faerlinas berserk, Leothebs shadow dmg isn't very challenging either with great DPS as hes dead before 4th round of shadow dmg, Gluth (dies before decimate). The biggest lul-fight has to have been KT for me, was so easy i was almost in disbelief, i only did Naxx in WotLK since i was not that "hardcore" in my vanilla days, but oh boy, this was a let-down. Naxx overall was/is actually fun tho, it's not like the boring no-challenge MC.

Greater Shadow Protection potions cost 16g on my server. That means that 191 potions of Shadow Protection alone equal 3k gold. And if your average player is able to farm 30-50 gold per hour on a highly competitive and populated PvP server, that would be 98 hours of farming for just pots; or 48 hours if you were a really efficient mage.

Just farm them yourself, 3 herb alts at sm, do 5 runs per h, each run are 5 Shadow oil, if youndont have dreamfoil, Go Farm it in dm, about 1 Stack per resett, No need to kill anything

12/15 in our GDKP, pretty good for week 2 clear 2 day 3 hour runs. GDKP really helps answer a lot of the consume costs as splinters, trash, and runes alone pay for everyones consumes and tanks flasks. I think we can be 15/15 if we commit a bit more time, but its just such a long raid is the real problem.

Naxx is fun. However with the current cost of consumables on our server, it's not sustainable. Flasks go between 330-500g, 80G for just 5 greater arcane elixirs for example. (Mograine-EU btw). I hope they will fix that so people wont get completely burned out.

Naxx was definitely harder than AQ40. I think the jump was larger than coming from BWL. What I've noticed is the gap between private server guilds and your average guild did get wider over the course of Vanilla due to the raid difficulty jumps. My guild is still trying to finish clearing Naxx, and with it being a casual guild we don't have days on end each week to try tweaking strats. It definitely a much larger hurdle compared to everything before it.

11/15 now with our no world buffs guild over on Noggenfogger. Second reset we got 10 bosses down in 3.5 hours. Didn't make it to razuvious as it got too late. Going in tomorrow and we're hoping to progress past Gothic to have tries on 4HM. Not bad for a dad guild with the average officer age is 36! 🤣 Very happy with Naxx so far. I cleared it in Vanilla but never this quickly.

Love Classic, but this isn't a challenge. We did it first night going over our scheduled raid time for it by about 40 minutes so 4 hours and ten minutes give or take and we full cleared.

Eh you don't really need them except on some fights. One of the reasons why I absolutely hate Loatheb is that no matter what you do you pretty much have to pop at least one GSPP, especially without world buffs. Sapphiron can be done without GFPP once you have enough gear and same for KT.

@@Lighthammer18 i havent popped a single GSPP on Loatheb and I killed him. Tip, be a warrior with 7k hp as DPS you can tank 3 hits of doom and heal up a lot with healthstones, healthpots, bandagrs, crusader and bloodthirst

I wish I saw retail as amazing like you do. I couldn't stand the horrendous gear pacing, overly rushed gameplay, and the mind-boggling ease of leveling and end-game world content. I just can't find the desire to step into raid when so much of the core game is, in my own opinion, bad MMORPG design. The covenants and zones are incredible, but those can't prop up game design that feels so wrong. P.S. You do not need flasks for raiding naxx at all.

@@Ryan_hey In retail I purposely always play arms warrior instead of Fury for the reason that fury makes my hands hurt after an hour of playing it casually. The speed at which you mash your entire keyboard just for the basic rotation makes me feel like an 11 year old on a sugar rush.

My guild still hasn't gotten to Sapphiron. We've had 1-3 wipes on every boss except Anubrekhan, I think. Patchwork wiped us 4 times in the first week, then nailed him on our first attempt in week 2.

my raid team didn't get very far on our first week, but we also got really unlucky and had multiple people with internet issues who dc'd in the middle of bosses and we only had 35 people total (10 healers). Even though we didn't go through all the wings, we still say it was a fairly successful first week given the circumstances.

At 12/15 now. Only killed one boss with world buffs in each ID so definitely possible without world buffs. But still quite a step up from AQ. Spent a shit ton on consumes but this is probably the most fun I've had raiding in classic since launch :D

Unfortunately in vanilla we were up to twin emps in aq40 and right before naxx released the guild broke up because of drama so I never got to raid naxx. Ended up only pvping on my rogue main and leveled a priest to 60 and still had fun doing all the 5 mans.. Right before BC came out I deleted my toons and quit only to come back 6 mths later in TBC and rolled on a fresh server with a irl friend on horde side..

My guild is a dad guild and we are 8/15. Cleared Spider wing, killed Noth and wiped some on Heigan our first night in. We only raid 2 nights a week so we came back in Tuesday. Full cleared everything we'd done prior and downed Razuvious after a few attempts and some adjustments. Then just the other night we cleared to Thaddius. Patchwerk took us six wipes before we had a clean kill. Healers had to work out downranking and mana usage. We are still very proud of our Patchwerk kill. No one died on it. We one shot Grobbulus. Two shot Gluth and since we only raid three hours each night got to see Thaddius, but wiped on the first attempt. It's actual progression like I remember when I raided hardcore in BC. I don't think the consumes will be as big a deal as people pick up more gear. By the time most of your dad guilds are bashing their heads on KT I think you'll be skipping consumes on most bosses prior outside of like Sapphiron, Loatheb, etc. I already quit really using a lot in the Spider wing. Maybe some cheaper consumes and Noggenfogger for those without slow fall on Anub'Rekhan. And the tank needs them on Maexxna. Noth doesn't seem to need consumes. Don't think Heigan does either. World buffs help, but I think they're bigger on Patchwerk like you said.

We had our healing keep tank up for 4 mins Loatheb, and he was at 23% before it went pear shaped. No world buffs, we are not geared to drop him dps wise. I think we could tweak this out with some more consumes, but what we have seen, is that the 10-12 DPS that do the lion share of the work are now not enuff to carry the tourists. They need to step up. Also a good lead into TBC where 15 players will go the wayside. We can now see who most of these people are

It's nice to see all the progression since we're officially now in the correct patch for the tier. Funny enough it falls to mechanics mostly, since even world buffs (which were hardly used in real Vanilla) aren't going to save you against standing in fire here and you honestly need to know what you're doing for once. The new Immortal achievement... get through K'T with all buffs still up.

To any shadow priests who haven’t yet tried Loatheb, make sure not to apply Vampiric Embrace to Loatheb until after he decurses himself. Vamp Embrace takes up your 1 Minute Healing Spell Cooldown and Loatheb decurses himself every 30 seconds.

World buffs are terrible, they should make them unusable in all raids. That way people would use them for world pvp, leveling and dungeons. Buff logging is obnoxious and I refuse to do it.

It is interesting to actually see the better guilds relying on WB more, half of them if they wipe go do a full rebuff of the whole raid to down certain bosses, the casual guilds actually put more work into learning the mechanics and perfecting the fight wipe after wipe no world buffs instead of just trying to zerg everything

@@staplesfoley 30% is just so huge its silly not to do it. During 3.3.5 the carebear buff in ICC is another example of this, i was fortunate enough to clear a couple of times without it and experience it like it was intended however running the buff pretty much every one did it. Hate to say it but maybe just doing a % buff ala ICC might be a better choice if everyone is going to do it anyways.

I'm 90% certain they released Shadowlands at the same time to get people to switch from classic to retail when encountering the first raid with difficulty. Naxx is expensive and all the bots/gold farmers have ruined the economy. The poor decision to not cap server pops while eliminating layers allows gold farmers to control world spawns/farm. Prices for consumes are hyper inflated. This combination turns many people away from classic and towards retail. Naxx is still an incredibly easy raid, but Blizz has made decisions that pull people away from classic.

I think of it this way. Guilds that have full cleared naxx are the professional teams that put the practice in. My guild is a backyard league. I also get the impression that raids were progressive meaning that they got harder and yes gear mitigates that but mechics seem to matter more as you progress.

My guild tried patch first, wiped on embalming slime respawns, but went to try anyways. Got Patch to 66%, heals went oom and we went to spider wing to kill anub. Next day we got faerlina and noth (with maexxna practice) and called it. Lack of dps with 34 people hurts real bad :(

It could be fun if, once everyone completed Naxx or is partially equipped with Naxx gear, Blizz decides to release a mini patch for try hard players. Where if you get to clean Naxx without Raid Buffs and with the same 40 players, all players get some legendary thing/cloak or something.

We went in and cleared until 4hm on first raidnight, then progressed 6 hrs on saph and KT until cleared first week. Second week we struggled way more with bosses until 4hm but 1shot them, saph and KT second week. Really proud of my guild cuz we really not a hardcore guild

Naxx raid prep pre release killed my private server guild , officers suddenly demanded we grind 15 flask of the titan each , even though that proved extremely counterproductive because of % hp damage skills on certain bosses . We lost about 15 people , officers merged with an other guild without warning , this made another 10 quit, similar to the other guild, and we raised together for about 2 weeks before everybody quit. Months of raid prep, gold farming and all kinds of bullshit, feeding certain people loot , everything wasted in the span of no more than 15 days of bad officer decisions :(

This raid is seriously tough compared to everything else! I thought it would turn out to be a cake-walk like everything else, but nope! 4 days completed now and my guild is 7/15. Even with DMF week every boss other than Patchwerk & Noth has been a wipe, most bosses 7-10 wipes or so.

As a normal player im having a real problem with the gold issue. It feels really impossible to have enough gold for all the consumes you need. Its crazy, really makes me long for tbc as the consumes need goes down but the progression does not.

I had level 70s groups wipe in Naxx because people thought they could brute force the mechanics. Yeah the mechanics are not as complex as today, or even BC back then, but they punished you if you didn't follow them.

On Golemagg EU Horde, only 7 guilds killed KT out of 45 that killed Noth. This is true after 2 weeks of Naxx resets. Source is warcraft logs ofc. Many casual horde guilds are struggling immensely. Already 4 guilds that I knew disbanded due to drama and rage because of failure in Naxx. Alliance has seen much more success.

As cereal killer on herod, we one shotted patchwerk thank god, and it made out first run much smoothier. Had some problems on thaddius, but we did it in The first run. The first week we did 11/15 and didnt kill only loatheb, 4horse and The final bosses. On second week we did it tô saph, but cuz of The amount of time spent At raid we had no energy to keep going. Naxx is Hard, but is awesome and fun. Hope u guys clear it, we will
