@TheBlexi34 жыл бұрын
That's true. But as an Indian I see where the criticism comes from. This show's first few episodes were very good but now it's over produced and this is not even how Indians shop. We look around and ask the consultants to show the dresses we think are good. Second the dresses themselves are quite tacky. Indian fashion nowadays has gone to a more contemporary direction while still respecting the traditions while I think the clothes in this show seems to have been frozen in time. If you're developing an interest I recommend you check out sabyasachi style to see why everyone here feels the same.

I will respond to a very common comment I am seeing from desi girls. You have to remember not everybody is comfortable going back to India to get a dress. Some of them have never been to India or maybe gone once as a child. They may not have close relatives in India who can host them. Add in the cost of air travel to India and perhaps hotel stay. They are not comfortable roaming all the bazaars and bargaining and the hot weather etc. Secondly, although the Indian designers sell online but you can not touch the lehngas or try them on before buying. A physical store where you can check out the lehngas, wear them, see if they are comfortable, walk in them, have your family look at you and give you suggestions is very different from ordering online where there is a lot of uncertainty. A dress may look great in a picture, but once you wear it, it may not be the one for you. Therefore it makes sense for NRI girls to get dresses at stores in the US. The difference in taste between Indians and NRI girls in clothes is just the same as the difference in food. The food that NRI like as "indian food" is very different and over priced compared to food in India. This is true not just for food but for everything else including clothes. These dresses are not made in the US. They are made in India and shipped here. You have to take in to account the cost of shipping and cost of running a business like Nazrana in the US. The cost of the lehgna incorporates those other costs and therefore sounds like a lot more than the price you can get in India.
