Wiggins was supposed to be maple Jordan 😔😔😔
@JimBob-jr5up6 ай бұрын
Wiggins highlights a few things. 1. Uttery absurd expectations by people who have no idea how to eval players. People who dont grasp the very easy to understand; worst case - likely - best case, potential comparisons. I'll go ahead and throw in people who dont quite understand the word "potential". 2. The importance of being on the right team for developing. 3. Giving players time to develop. While i dont think this is true in Wiggins case, one could perceive it that way and it is important.

Isaac Okoro wasn’t meant to be a star but he was meant to better than he currently is. He doesn’t really play like them but he was meant to be on the level of a prime Marcus Smart or Derrick White. A really good starter basically
@ItsHughMungus6 ай бұрын
I think it’s not insane to think Jhalil could have been a low level all star if he was drafted in the early 00s
@tjanderson58926 ай бұрын
I think it is lol. Think centers are the easiest to draft really and Jahlil didn’t really do anything better than any other center. Was supposed to be elite w/ the low post game, but that’s also the easiest game to teach and also doesn’t help much if ya can’t knock your FTs. Then he was just a waste on def lol. But no reason he couldn’t be Nurkic in todays game if he put in the work maybe
@ItsHughMungus6 ай бұрын
@@tjanderson5892 I mean he averaged 18 his first year only with those post moves. Don’t think it’s out of the relm he could have been a 20-23 ppg big which back then was low level all star numbers, similar to Elton Brand
@tjanderson58926 ай бұрын
@@ItsHughMungus he sure did. For the worst NBA teams in history lol. Think they ended up w/ 10 wins, but they were so bad that the league stepped in to fire Hinkie 😂. He had the greenest light possible and was decently efficient on offense, but he also killed their pace and was a negative when ya include FTs. So on a team actively trying to lose he got to play 30+ min a night for 10 wins. Think he could be an NBA player, but post up offense isn’t valued anymore especially since he’d just clog the lane up for his teammates while not being a threat to even dribble on the perimeter lol.
@ItsHughMungus6 ай бұрын
@@tjanderson5892 I agree thats why he was phased out for the most part, but in the early 2000s you could be a slow footed post up big man and still find success
@tjanderson58926 ай бұрын
@@ItsHughMungus for sure. Just don’t see him being a low level star or much more than a 12-16 min a night player in that era. Having to check Shaq, Duncan, Yao, Love, Mourning, KG, Lamarcus, Bosh, Dwight, and Bynum would have him BBQ chicken. I honestly felt like he’d have had a better chance improving his game and succeeding in the current NBA when his skill set is rare, but still has some value if good enough. Like Nurkic, or Zubac maybe.

By this "after 5 years we know who you are" logic, Zion is just a 22ppg scorer and not first option caliber. And I totally agree. Hasn't developed a three pointer, plays no D even though he has the tools and athleticism, inconsistent, indisciplined, can't control his weight... etc... Why do people still say "HIS CEILING IS THROUGH THE ROOF, FUTURE MVP!". This is just delusion, overrating at it's finest. 5 seasons and he is averaging less ppg and fg% compared to his rookie season... My god please hold him accountable for his expectations as a player

Honestly if jahlil Okafor was drafted in the early 2010s he would've strived because in the 2000s him being a big man would have been harder for him. In the 90s/2000s he would have been fucked because there's are so many good big men, he definitely would have been a lower tier center back then. Other than 2010 through 2015 he'd probably only do good in the 60s or 70s bro was just a bad pick especially for Philly drafting 3 centers in a row where 2 of them were just ass picks

I don't believe most lottery picks are busts. Not everyone that's a lottery pick will end up being the leading or 2nd leading scorer on their team. As long as players are given opportunities and find 'their' roles, that's fine with me🤷♂️ Example, look at Gradey in Toronto. He probably won't get any 'real' minutes until they've moved on from Siakam and OG🤷♂️

@JimBob-jr5up6 ай бұрын
@@alexsmith3598 He was a tweener and early in his career the league was still way more traditional and tweeners didnt really work out except as 6th men, back up role players, etc. Warriors already had Monta running the show so it was a weird combo for a bit and no matter what any Warriors fan says now, i clearly remember most fans wanted to trade him.
