It’s not just the deadline trades after that 26-23 and losing those two games he mentioned. The Mavs also got healthy. They had 2-3 starters and rotation guys out for most of the first half of the season.

Dallas' roster balance and depth are incredibly good. Their biggest weaknesses are: 1) Streaky jump shooting. Nobody on this roster is a go-to shooter who can be relied upon to hit open shots. Everybody is a streak shooter. 2) Health. Luka and Lively are playing hurt and everybody in the rotation has missed time with injuries this year. Everybody has to deal with injuries, but Dallas is a little more banged up than Boston right now. 3) Kidd's inexperience as a win-now head coach. We don't know how good he is and won't know until after this series. We know Mazzulla is a great coach. Boston's roster, loaded with talent as it is, is unbalanced and wonky and Joe M built a gameplan that wins despite that. He makes amazing adjustments in-game and has experience. 4) Dallas still has occasional problems with miscommunication and missed assignments because this group hasn't been together for very long. Boston's roster has a lot more continuity. That said, I think Dallas matches up extremely well with Boston and can win this series. I think they're going to surprise some people.

We would understand if coaching is something that makes you happier and would be supportive of your decision, but damn your podcasts and appearances on TV have been such a breath of fresh air as a fan. I think a key factor of the development of Lively is his maturity as his family didnt allow him to go crazy and teach him to be proactive to work and as he had to burn steps quicker than usual he can keep the concentration and be smart in his decision making. Agree, I saw a number of interviews with his mother after he was drafted by Dallas. It was obvious that she was both a basketball and life coach for him. I wasn't even aware that she was dying. She was an out standing basketball player at Penn State and knew the insides of professional basketball, she obviously gave him a big head start. Thankfully he listened to her not something all young men are willing to do.

Would be cool is JJ Reddick took an assistant coaching job with an NBA Team before becoming a head coach. That way he can get the experience needed and learn what it takes to become a head coach. Guys like Steve Nash, Derrick Fisher, and Jason Kidd all had it rough going straight into the head coaching position. I'd say JJ Reddick should join a team like the Spurs or the Heat and learn under Pop/Spoltra. Then after a few years take all that he has learned and look into taking a head position.

Thank you! Since the JJ/Lakers rumors have been going around you are the only person (fans and pundits and analysts alike) that has voiced their concerns of JJ's lack of coaching experience. Self-admittedly, JJ only has experience coaching his ten year old's AAU travel team. As high of a basketball IQ JJ has and knows the x's and o's it still doesn't change the fact he has zero coaching experience at higher levels. Will Hardy had 6.5 years under Pop and the Spurs organization, and one year under Ime Udoka and the Celtics organization before he was hired by the Jazz as the youngest NBA head coach. Adrian Griffin had stops in 5 different organizations before being hired (and fired) by the Bucks. Lakers would literally have to surround JJ with top coaches for his staff. Thoughts anyone?

You gotta believe JJ knew that Lebron is both a terrible yet predictable liar and his insecurities make him very easy to manipulate prior to inviting him on the podcast. JJ is a smart dude. So it seems likely that JJ knew that showing just a tiny bit of deference to Lebron while never calling him on his bullshit would be all that was necessary to put himself in a position to be the next Lakers coach. I mean, am I really expected to believe this has all come as a shock to JJ? I wouldn’t insult him with such an accusation. But I’m also not accusing him of nefarious scheming either. It’s just an observation. If JJ can successfully navigate the next couple of years as head coach without being made the scapegoat for Lebron’s failings, he could be around for awhile. But make no mistake, there’s going to come a point where JJ will have to decide between doing what he thinks is right for the team and what Lebron expects him to do. Both JJ and Lebron are entering this relationship believing they can manipulate the other guy into doing what they want. I just can’t imagine how anyone other than somebody like Phil Jackson or Pat Riley could put Lebron in his place at this point. If the season doesn’t go as planned, JJ better be prepared to hear the National media undermine his authority all day every day. Being lebron’s head coach at this point is a career ending decision the moment the ink dries on the contract because Lebron’s current ability far exceeds his power to influence the team. If they’re winning, everything is great. Well, winning is much harder for a 40 year old who thinks he’s Barbara Streisand.

If I was the Lakers.. Whether or not you're getting the PG trade you want.. I'm moving Vincent and signing as many solid depth pieces I can. They could literally hoard a ton of great defending multifaceted, high level role player's. That's what this FA is and some great player's sprinkled in also.. Guy's like Isaiah Hartenstein and many more I could name. I'd be going buck wild bringing in new FA's and swinging a couple player's. Maybe Vincent plays well, but after that injury.. Idk, maybe you look to just move him. That way you don't have to worry about him. Taking up space and potentially getting injured again. What sucks is he's on a very cheap contract.. But there are a lot of solid rotational pieces and other PG's.

Who's Adam Silver betting on? Which refs are good friends with Adam Silver? Who's betting on games in the front office? Celtics are the clear better team, even though they had some help from refs, too. Mavs would normalize Epstein Clients. Girls Gone Wild financier Mark Cuban? Wife beater coach? It's all so obvious. All of our major sports have pals of Robert Kraft and Dershowitz creeps embedded. I want my real sports back. Affordable tickets. Cheap beer. Rail to the stadium. No criminals in the commissioner's office. No players, coaches, staff, refs, marketing, media etc ... NOBODY GAMBLING ON GAMES INVOLVED IN THE GAMES. ZERO.

Great dialog, no doubt. But for a moment, i would like to make a prediction on the nba. Finals. If DALLAS wins the first game in BOSTON, i think that they will win the title. How say YOU?

Jaylen Brown is a different level player. And his mindset and abilities carrying over on the whole roster. Barring any significant injuries, Mavs haven't faced a team of this caliber. Their playoff opponents all arrived hobbled and fatigued. Ref / league / mob gambling embeds only way Mavs can come out as champions if everyone is healthy on both teams.

This is a finals preview and I'm 3/4 of the way into it. And so far it's been all about Dallas.Obviously there is bias going, and you guys are gonna look pretty stupid when Boston wins.

There is only 1 thing I dislike about JJ's takes. And it's his stupid "Alfreds" obsession. It's ridiculously corney and completely unnecessary to the discussion. There are far better ways to discuss those types of players.

Boston is going to rely on White and Jrue in crunch time. It annoys me that they spent 20 mil over the cap to offset the Jays' tendency to choke and that may be too much to overcome for Dallas. Hope they shoot 30% from 3 and lose in 6.

Mavs get way behind too easily. That’s the problem vs. Boston. Veteran teams don’t let you off the mat. Let’s see if Dallas can do this against the best team in the league. Playing from behind in the finals is always a bad idea.

See JJ doesn't want to point out that yes Luka is extremely deadly on offense. But the league catered to the euro play so yea Luka is talented af. I would be crazy not to believe that. But u also need to point out the league wanted more points. More everything on offense. So it was very nice that the league catered to his skill set. Again not saying Luka isn't extremely talented. Just wanted to make sure the fans know that
