Me too. He maybe wasn't the best of the best but he brought something that cannot be put into statistics : the fun. To me, Shawn Kempt is the embodiment of the reason why I love basketball. It is sometimes brutal, animal, athletics (which the today's 3pts shoot contests that take place in almost every game are not) and above all fun to watch. So, thank you Shawn Kempt.

Back in those days in London, NBA was only shown on the Tv once a week Saturday 11:00am -11:45am. When I saw Shawn do his dunks, his haircut, and his childhood story, I was hooked. His dunk style was so unique and aggressive it remind me a mix between martial arts and hiphop specifically Onyx the rap group around that time. Man, I remember my weekly pocket money was £7.50 and I saved that god knows for how long to buy the 95-96 Kemp jersey for £60. Kemp has a strong dunk image, but he's also good at mid-range shots and free throws. If it weren't for all the problems, he was a talent that could have been the best PF of all time. Slept 3h after the match and then woke up at 6 a.m. to go to high school. Still have his Kamikaze shoes, his poster when opening my wardrobe, Sonics winter cap and his jersey. It’s hard to remember when he wasn’t inside the nba on top 10. Also when he blocked MJ. MJ was running, took off at the same time Shawn made one step, they both went up, MJ started falling down, Kemp was still hanging up, after the MJ released the shot, followed a great block. Pity he had to leave Seattle and it ended up this way. I remember visiting Seattle. He was no longer playing. Man, just being in the Key Arena watching Seattle Storm vs Connecticut Sun, got me so many memories back of him, got goose bumps. Thanks for all the great memories Shawn.
