One of the all-time fan favorite Laker teams. In between the end of the Magic/Showtime era and a couple of years before the beginning of the Shaq and Kobe era, there was the 94-95 Lakers. This team didn't have a superstar but a collection of really good players (Van Exel, Vlade, Eddie Jones, Ced Ceballos, Elden Campbell) and were classic overachievers. They got every ounce out of what they had and went on to beat this prime Payton and Kemp Sonics squad, and somehow took MVP David Robinson's league best record Spurs to 6.

What a disappointment those supersonics teams were. Both 94 and 95 both those teams were built for a championship, but couldn’t get out of the first round both years losing to Denver and the Lakers. I believe the sonics would’ve won both series if it had been a 7 game series and not a 5. A lot of weaker teams snuck into the second round due to those five game first round series. The team that benefited most from this was the Houston Rockets. The supersonics always had the Rockets number during the 90s 90s. And both 9495. The sonics were eliminated early and the Rockets never had to face them.
@FuShengAlex5 ай бұрын
In 94 maybe they'd have benefitted in a 7 game series, but c'mon they lost 3 straight games this series and would've been down 3-1 headed home. What really woulda changed? This particular season they just could NOT stop Nick Van Exel. He was giving GP the business. Great move to trade Gill for Hawkins. They needed shooting in the backcourt. GP and Gill were a bad fit.
