NBC did an unbelievable and unfathomable job of making you believe this was an event you were about to behold. A rare experience only a few would be able to experience together or alone watching greatness. I can literally remember specific games from that Era, and I was 8-18 yrs old during the 90's, due to the introduction, Ahmad Rashad and inside the NBA, and how NBC made the NBA feel like modern gladiators in the coliseum. And the reason it worked is because the talent was peak NBA with incredible teams built as well. So we had peak talent, peak NBA as a whole with stern steering the ship, and peak production. It all came together beautifully. Also, with the Olympics and the Dream Team it truly made ir feel like God's among men.

The NBA on NBC was THE reason I watched the NBA. It has never been the same since it moved to ABC, because you can't watch an NBA game on TV without hearing John Tesh's "Roundball Rock" to pump you up.

That plus the Lakers were already an aging team while the Bulls just reached their prime. The Pistons were thr only true challenge for the Bulls but even they got handled that year because Jordan finally learned thanks to Phil Jackson that he had actual teammates to pass to and that this was a team sport.

@@patrickgrady7505 It's not as simple as Jordan learning he had actual teammates to pass to. Pippen, Grant, and Armstrong in particular were still young and developing. They were not ready to win prior to 1991 because they didn't have enough talent to win. The only season you can even make an argument for them getting to the finals was 1990 but the supporting cast was horrendous in game 7 against Detroit and Pippen had the migraine game and was totally ineffective.

That is KEVIN JOHNSON.. a former Phoenix Suns PG and former teammate of Barkley, in Phoenix. Unfortunately, KJ and other great such as Barkley, Malone, Reggie Miller, Stockton, Ehlo, Ewing, Wilkins became victims of Jordan's greatness. KJ never won a ring because of Jordan. Finally, Kevin Johnson is a current Sacramento Mayor in California. He is famous for saving the Sacramento Kings franchise from moving to Seattle. He is a great man and a great athlete. We made it dude. Did you see the NBC Sports NBA on NBC Fall 2025 Return Promo video? What you thought of it and the schedule? 100 games NBC will cover with Peacock. MLK annual doubleheader on NBC. All Star Saturday Nigbt & All Star Game & playoffs. Monday gets doubleheader on Peacock but NBC owns Peacock so coverage on Peacock for streams is still NBC broadcast. Same as NFL on Peacock with NBC scoreboard. So 6 conference finals in first 11 years with Amazon. But NBC won't get NBA Finals until next TV deal in 2037. ABC will keep airing it for another 11 years the NBA Finals but they cut less games. It's 80 games. NBC gets Tuesday Doubleheaders and Sunday Night Basketball after NFL Season. What's your overall thoughts on schedule and what potential NBA legends will be on NBC next year. What about Bob Costas does he Return for the monologues and storyline intros + broadcast games? Heard Mike Tirico from NBC will be among the new commentators for NBA on NBC.

@dreamcage1801 This may be ABC's last TV deal though. They have less games. 80 games while NBC has 100 with Peacock. At least in next TV deal, NBC retains it again and ABC loses it this time. They didn't renew their TV deal in 45 day window so I think with ABC cutting back on games to save money. NBC will take over NBA Finals in next TV deal and ABC is out.

It will be interesting to see him do games and any others as well along with NBA analysts they picked for NBA on NBC pre and post game shows. At least NBC has conference Finals which will rotate WCF and ECF with ABC the first 6 seasons of that 11 yr deal. I hope Bob Costas comes back for monogue intros. He doesn't have to broadcast games like he did in 90s NBA on NBC but would be cool if he did. Just that he does baseball broadcasts on MLB Network.
