Detroit was better than both teams, they got cheated by the league in '88 and '91 -- that Jordan vs. Magic thing was NEVER a competition because Magic was a pillar and nobody could touch him or his team and Jordan didn't know how to win, great individually, but a terrible team overall.
@coreyrowe411914 күн бұрын
@@plainsimple244 how did the Pistons get cheated in 1991?
@plainsimple24414 күн бұрын
@@coreyrowe4119 Cheated '91: Yeah, it was both; the Pistons were made to 'step-aside' and let Chicago win in '91 on purpose and that entire team lost together on purpose and here's how it went down. All you have to do is look at what happened and the facts. Everyone did their part. 1991 ECF Facts: Isiah Thomas took just 9 shots in game 1 and 9 shots in game 2; Joe Dumars took just 10 shots in game 1 and only 10 shots in game 3; Bill Laimbeer took just 7 shots in game 1 and only 2 shots in game 2; Chuck Daly played John Salley only 9 minutes in game 2 and played James Edwards only 11 minutes in game 2 and just 9 minutes in game 3. The players and coaches for the Pistons did their part. The officials did their part giving Chicago a 117-76 foul shot attempt advantage from games 1-3. If you do the math, there was no way Detroit could have won any of the first 3 games. Game 1: Chicago won 94-83, Chicago shot 35 foul shots, Detroit 17; Game 2: Chicago won 105-97, Chicago shot 45 foul shots, Detroit 25; Game 3 @ The Palace: Chicago won 113-107, Chicago shot 35 foul shots, Detroit 36. The back-to-back world champion Pistons got the luxury of only one more foul shot at home. Remember, the Pistons won with defense and half court execution, mainly defense...they faced the likes of the Lakers (Magic, Worthy, Kareem) and Boston (Bird, McHale, Parish, Dennis Johnson - MVP of the '79 Finals), both teams having at least 3 guys who could create double teams in the post or on the perimeter; Detroit NEVER got past those teams by incurring a 117-76 foul shot disadvantage from games 1-3; Chicago only had one guy who could create double teams in the post and on the perimeter and Detroit dominated Chicago from 1988-1990 with a 26-9 record vs. Chicago in the regular season and playoffs. So that's how the 1991 ECF went; you don't win back-to-back titles by fouling people and getting into the penalty so your opponent can shoot foul shots all day, if the Pistons didn't do this vs. the Celtics/Lakers, why would they do this vs. Chicago going for a 3-peat, a team they dominated 3 straight seasons? Propaganda: The media will tell you the Pistons were old, THEY WERE NOT OLD, they were injured. THE PISTONS DIDN'T LOSE IN '91 DUE TO INJURIES OR AGE, they lost because as a unit they went out on their own terms. The Break-Up: Remember, in the 1991 off season, Pistons GM, Jack McCloskey waived Vinnie Johnson and traded James Edwards to the Clippers. So right there, the Pistons broke up their title-contending team....The Pistons went from an injured team going for a 3-peat and 4 straight trips to the Finals with Edwards/Johnson, still winning 50 games going to the ECF to being totally healthy in '91-'92 without Edwards/Johnson only winning 48 games and losing in the first round to the Knicks, that's the impact of Vinnie Johnson and James Edwards -- 2 rounds. So ask yourself, who benefits for the Pistons making those moves? Why would the Pistons break up a title-contending team? They added Edwards after they lost in '87 to Boston, didn't break up that team; they added Aguirre trading him for Dantley in '89 after losing in '88, didn't break up that team. Remember, Jordan had to retire after going to 3 straight Finals due to being burned out. Detroit was going for 4 straight trips to the Finals. Magic went to the Finals in '80, '82-'85, '87-89, '91 and Bird '81, '84-'87 ... So you see Magic went to 4 straight trips and 3 straight trips and Bird 4 straight trips, both didn't have to retire; Jordan had to retire after 3 straight trips. The Walk-Off: Remember, the 3 guys who led the infamous 'walk-off' were all from Chicago: Mark Aguirre, Bill Laimbeer, and Isiah Thomas. The Pistons broke up their team, so ask yourself if Thomas, President of the Player's Association, knew he had to step down, stepped down and moved the league forward in the Jordan-Era because Thomas was the guy who negotiated the 53% revenue advantage for the players vs. owners with the new NBA/NBC contract into the 1990-91 season; Thomas was the guy who made sure players would get greater healthcare benefits, royalties, bonuses, and monies owed while being able to monetize their image/likeness while making sure agents got less percentage of player contracts .... This is why the Pistons were labeled as 'bad' and 'evil' and 'bad for the game' because of how Isiah Thomas was working on behalf of the players for greater financial rewards -- this is why you saw rookies coming into the league in the mid 90's from '92 on getting $40-$60M contracts guaranteed. So Jordan's abilities were going to forward the financial rewards of the players, so who gets injured in January of 1991? Isiah Thomas. Who was given the Olympic Team coaching job prior to the 1990-91 season, even though Riley had more rings named the coach of the decade? Chuck Daly. So chances are the Pistons had to step down, Daly given a reward and Thomas, due to the money and investments, had to step aside to let Jordan win. Remember, Magic won back-to-back, had to let go, Thomas won back-to-back, had to let go, Jordan won back-to-back , he couldn't let go because it was Barkley/Ewing's turn and Jordan had to retire. See? Cheated: This is why you see Isiah Thomas all over talking about his legacy, the Pistons, that era and Jordan and what Jordan did and said about them labeling them negatively because Jordan was used as a pawn for corporations so they could get a return on their investment and he showed no class in how he treated a defending champion, he really thought he won legit not realizing what Thomas did for him. The Pistons legacy was destroyed by the propaganda and politics of the NBA. Remember, Rodman, Salley, and Edwards on the end of their careers were able to make up the greatest Chicago Bulls' team of all-time, the 1995-96 Bulls and those 3 Pistons were just bench guys for the 1989 Pistons. From 1989-1993 the Pistons had to get rid of the following guys: Rick Mahorn in '89, Vinnie Johnson/Edwards in '91 and John Salley in '92 -- WHO BENEFITS? A team that couldn't beat Detroit, the Bulls. Remember, Jordan couldn't figure it out for 3 straight years, even in '91 the Pistons scorers had to not shoot the ball for 3 games and Daly had to not play his front court (Salley/Edwards) major minutes while the refs gave Chicago a 117-76 foul shot attempt advantage in order for Jordan to win; then the Pistons had to break up their title-contending team so they could be no longer a threat to Jordan losing. See how it works? One Last Point: If you disagree with anything I've stated, that's okay, just let me know, I can answer any of your questions, I don't get offended.

@@vinylfrontierextra Game 6, 1989/Game 7, 1990: I don't know if he was dizzy, knocked out, but you could hear Doug Collins saying he wouldn't be back was disappointing to him, so then you go to game 7 in 1990 when he had a migraine and he stated he couldn't answer the bell, so that's a question on Pippen's ability to 'be there' for the team and for Jordan. When you look at 'The Last Dance' you can see why Pippen would disappear because he didn't want to help that tyrant, Michael Jordan -- a lot of times if you have no power, the power you have is not being there so you use things as an excuse to just not be there while you let the tyrant do it himself. I really don't think Pippen ever lost confidence or choked, I just think that was the media saying that about Pippen but nobody knew how it was to work with Jordan; people don't want to work with an a**hole so they hang him out to dry, so remember in 1991, what happened? Pippen showed up, right? Well he was on the last year of his contract, so that's why you saw Pippen do his thing; they even talked about him not having a good series vs. the Knicks in '92, after he got his contract. So 'The Last Dance' again, it was about Pippen with his contract, you see? So Pippen even in the past couple of years has talked about Jordan negatively and what he really thinks about Jordan, so that was way back then he felt that way because he saw how much of an a**hole Jordan was to guys, the privileges he got and how people worshiped Jordan but they weren't working with him, so they didn't know he was an a**hole to be around constantly while getting his way -- that type of foolishness wears on you. Which makes is sickening of how or why Pippen wouldn't leave after '91 when the owner told him not to sign that contract. Why do you think he signed that deal? Jordan. See, you have to understand the power Jordan had to mess up a guy's career. When the league gives you power over other players, you control their careers and possibly where they go -- so Pippen didn't want to mess up his career, which is why he resents Jordan, those titles, that team, and Phil Jackson who backed Jordan. See? Now they make a documentary acting like Pippen was stupid but Jordan used him and possibly manipulated his career, which is why he had a breakdown getting upset in 2000 when they played the Lakers and he was saying, 'Phil is not my coach!' But Detroit gave Chicago that series, it was scripted, the Pistons were in on it and it was a story to make sure the money came into the league even more due to Jordan winning, that's all that was; which is why the Pistons broke up that team so they could never be an on-court threat for Jordan ... this is why the NBA made a new rivalry for Jordan, his friends in Ewing/Oakley led by Riley, the New York Bad Boys -- which is like Coy and Vance on the Dukes of Hazzard - a bad replacement, which is why they never won because the Knicks never had their own style, they were pretenders, not to mention soft and a stupid basketball team.
