I met him in 1990. My grandfather, RIP, was a NCAA ref for 20+ years. He officiated some UNC games when Jordan was in college. So he takes me to the Bulls game, Nov 6th 1990, and we go right in with no tickets. During pre-game I'm standing on the court talking to Bird and McHale. I was 13 years old and couldn't believe it. After the game we go to the back by the locker room and when Jordan came out my gramps motioned to em and he came over. I was stun locked. He didn't look real. I remember shaking his hand but I didn't speak, I couldn't speak lol. He signed a poster for me that my gramps had brought. He personalized it too. I still have it framed hanging on my wall.

This is all facts. When I worked for Nike my very first week they told me someone needed to come pick up some shoes and I had to let him in. There’s a knock at the door and it was MJ. I’m standing there with my mouth open and it felt like he was literally glowing like Adam Warlock. He said “Can I come in?” And I was like “Um um um. Yes sir! Mr Air. Um. Jordan. Um Michael. He was laughing the whole time as I gathered his things. He took them thanked me and left. That was a crazy unforgettable moment for me.

I was at 5 Star camp in the summer year 2000. Rumors were circulating that Jordan was coming to speak at the camp. I left lunch early to go to the hall where guest speakers spoke. On the walk over to the building storm clouds started to gather. Lightning and Thunder was everywhere around. I got a front row seat on the floor. They introduced Jordan to a huge standing invitation as the storm outside was raging. As we calmed down and he began to speak the power went out. We all started chanting Michael! Michael! Everyone was taking pictures in the dark so flash bulbs were going off lighting him. The power slowly began to turn back on and he treated us to a great lesson about the game. I’ll always remember that

MJ just had that invincible thing in him. Every Bulls game at the time was like a movie and you know MJ was the good guy who would always come out winning at the end. The newspaper, TV, radio were all talking about him every day. Truly special.
2 ай бұрын
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. I watched hundreds of those games on TV. Sometimes it seemed like he would disappear for a split second and would reappear around the basket. It felt like something had happened that I didn't see occur, This happened enough times that I wondered about my own hallucinations. It was weird to watch him play over and over again. I always wanted to ask him how it felt to him when he played basketball in the NBA. It looked like he was in a zone that nobody else was in. I have thought about this often and I realized after about 30 years of wondering what I and many others were viewing. Michael Jordan had close to perfect physical balance, body control, and movement symmetry. That gave him capacity to move through space more gracefully than anyone else. That was combined with speed and physical power. Hence the Jordan experience.

This should be studied. My girlfriend took me to a wizards game for my birthday years ago. She knew nothing about basketball and hated sports. We got there two hours early because she also paid for the arena tour which included allowing you to be escorted to the locker room area. As we were headed to court side to get our seats, Jordan and a white guy were behind us at the end of the hall. She turned and said “look that’s that Michael Jordon guy. Why is he glowing like that?” I looked and he absolutely had a radiating light. It was pretty weird. The guy next to him looked normal. Crazy to think about sometimes.

I feel sorry for kids that didn’t see Jordan or the NBA back then. They have no clue that Magic and Bird saved the NBA from bankruptcy then Jordan earned the passing of the torch. Then LeBron comes in and ruins the whole damn league. He shouldn’t ever be mentioned in same sentence as MJ other than he was the absolute opposite of Jordan.

Yes, but to discredit the skill is unbelievably ignorant. He wasnt great because of marketing, he was marketed because he was great.
