An elite player. He won't gather inflated numbers like he used to... because coaches will put him on the bench when the game would be out of reach. But, Chamberlain could be leading the league in many offensive and defensive categories at the same time!

The problem with young Wilt was this: He scored 70 or more 5 times, and lost 3 of the games. He set the record for rebounds at 55 once, and lost the game. He scored 63 on Bull Russell, and lost the game. He was not as smart a player as he became later.

Most points score in a NYK home game, or PER REGULAR season and playoffs for a career and single season. Don't believe me, test it for yourself. PER includes Turnovers, Blocks and steals, stats that weren't official in wilt day. Add x1 steal/Block with 7 turnovers and his PER is clearly first despite 7 turnovers.

if Wilt came up today, he would be just as dominant as he was back then. He was faster, could jump higher and was stronger than any big man TODAY! His skill set was huge and was extremely coordinated. He would certainly have developed a better free throw today, been even stronger and faster with modern training techniques. Scary thought for any opponent in today's game, cheers!

He played virtually the whole game too. Players now are lucky if they play 38 minutes of a 48 minute game. Guys like Embid, Jokic etc would be gassed by the end of the game and he’d run past them like they were running in mud. 50 years ago he was more fit than any big man playing now.

By halftime, he would be consistently be getting easy baskets because he would be beating EVERYONE down the floor. Not just the other center, he’d be beating guards down the floor too.

For people who say he can't play today I'm going to give a player where would and you have to guess where he was be drafted in the NBA draft a player who has a 9 ft 6 standing reach who is quick on his feet has a over 13 ft Max reach decent basketball IQ not the best shooting form but it's enough he won't be he may never learn how to shoot from 3 but he'll definitely learn how to shoot from mid-range he could become one of the great defenders in the league with his good instincts his quickness and length and he doesn't always go for the rebound in this player has decent passing ability not great or good just notable where do you think this player was if you guess sixth overall pick you would be right because I described Mo Bamba which means if Wilt Chamberlain play today he would be able to get to the NBA at least but the difference was Wilt Chamberlain was stronger cared about rebounding cared about being a skilled player not just had a talent for passing would have been better on the open Court has a decent offensive bag with with fadeaways and if all of that fails he's incredibly strong and can just dunk I think he's best comparison is someone like you giannis he probably wouldn't be as good because he didn't have modern training but if you was born in this day and age he would be monster especially if he keeps that mentality if you guys are still reading for the record all the stats I used for his physicality were track and field what other player said about him what we can see in the gameplay footage of him boxing measurements and what people today think of his of his athleticism

Wilt exaggerated a few things. Pretty sure he didn’t sleep with 20,000 women, not unless he had a TARDIS, cause he wouldn’t have had time to do anything else. ;-) And I’m pretty sure he didn’t have a 50” vert like he claimed. But based on the measurements we do have he probably had a 40” vert (or possibly a little higher) which is ludicrous enough. Seven footer who can up that high-We’re not seeing that again.

I am pleased with kids respecting their elders. I hope people my age and older could be this respectful on today's athletes though. I've heard the same fallacies since the 1970s from my uncles, the fans and the medias. I've heard on multiple platforms that players in the 1980s had "no fundamentals", had no "heart" and "weren't tough" and played just for money. With KZbin, it's easier to remember and learn from our false conceptions. The game of basketball isn't getting better or worse. It's changing. Plain and simple.

I'm going to guess you're from the Jordan era age group. I've been watching, playing and following basketball for almost 60 years. I know the game has changed and evaluate players by that. There are differences in the game for sure. However, the WORST fans are Jordan fans. They've been crapping on past players forever and have now passed that "gene" onto the current fan base. No offense to you, but that is what happened. I've seen it with my own eyes. The only time I mention "the rules" is when yougsters go on about "skill". I know that you can travel and carry at will and it's part of the game now. The only ones whining about it are the Jordan fan base. If you're not from that age group, then I'll apologize in advance. It still doesn't change what's happened to the game.

Wilt stopped doing the turn around fade in his later years. Notice most footage of him doing that turn around fade occurred during black and white t.v. Which is when the competition was physically smaller Caucasians. Less African Americans. Now fast forward to his battles with Kareem, and Nate Thurmond (taller men that will present more of a challenge) he wasn’t doing that turn around. It would of probably been more disrupted by the taller players who were more athletic as the years went on and that fade would not be as effective. Seriously, you won’t see much footage of wilt doing that turn around jumper in color tv.

@@shadow81in Only a few things very wrong with your comment. First thing is the claim that he stopped the turn around fade in his later years and this is incorrect since he did the turnaround fade till the very end of his career even in his last year with the lakers. Secondly this claim that he did when the comp was physically smaller caucasians when the height of centers in 1962 and 2022 is both 6’10 except they actually only ever took barefoot heights back then oppose to inconsistently doing it and not doing it in modern years so they debunks size claim Thirdly, the black population became the majority in 65 and increased over 40% over the course of wilts career showing he dominates all the same when the comp is majority better blacks or majority lesser whites and can do so no matter how much more the population of blacks increase since it only increased 15% since his retirement 4th, a fade is a move you use on someone either bigger than you or big in general and with an ability to shot block where as other moves especially straight up post moves to score at the basket are much much tougher and less desirable than a fade against guys like Kareem and thurmond. So it’s nonsense to say the fade would stop cuz of their size and defensive ability when the fade one of the moves you use to literally not get blocked hence why you are fading lol Lastly you see wilt using the fade on the most athletic guys in history from Walter dukes to Connie Hawkins to thurmond himself to bill Russell to Kareem himself to high jump champion Suade Halbrook and it’s successful against all of them So not only was it seen to the end of his career and against the players you mentioned and the types of guys like that but it would definitely be just as effective in an era where there’s actually less defensive bigs than it was in wilts time and used more against the taller guys whom never were skilled enough to deal with shots like that from a guy as great as wilt such as muresean ming bol ostertag etc…. All guys tall but lack the athleticism and defensive goathood and athleticism combined with their size that guys like thurmond, Halbrook, Elmore smith, Walter dukes, Bellamy, etc…. Had that suffered from that fade wilt had all the same Meanwhile the best bigs of those newer eras lack the defense compared to those of wilts era and are around the same size as them with none of the best ones being as big as Kareem And thurmond played in that same black and white era you labeled with wilt

@@shadow81in also you should know that in the early 70s at the end of wilts career, wilt still had enough bounce to block Kareem’s shot 17x in one single playoff series from an array of shots from the skyhook, to 7 foot plus floaters, to jumpers to layups n dunks etc… and Kareem’s fade was the least blocked out of all these shots showing he not only still had the bounce to be untouchable with the fade in his final years but proving a fade is among the most difficult shots to block and all the other moves in wilts arsenal are far easier to block especially when backdown punishment is considered a turnover in your era, proving wilt would be far superior to anyone else especially in his prime and unable to be challenged with his fade in his prime in any era especially as time goes on

The first half of "scoring Wilts" career he was having seasons of well over 30 FGA....and had a advantage in offensive touches over anyone else here. Nobody in history other than him has ever averaged more than 30 FGA. When playoffs came around one can see he clearly couldnt score consistently as good as in the regular season during his scoring prime. And then one looks at the fact that half of Wilt career he wasn't even a go-to scoring guy in the playoffs and then it just becomes a complete joke. By 66-67 it was just evident his coaches didnt trust him enough as a go to option on offence to win a title. Look at him in 67 regular season to Finals. 24ppg & 68% FG to 17ppg & 58% FG in the Finals. When did I even see such a HUGE drop by either a PRIME Kareem or Hakeem in any if their Finals appearances? 30% FT for the series....good thing the games werent that close as they were facing a clearly overmatched Warriors team. This is allegedly the best version of Wilt.....THREE HOF starters alongside him and still declining on the biggest stage? Now of course Wilt was indeed a better rebounder than either Kareem or Hakeem and deserves credit here, but it's not like this was some weakness for either in their primes. Yeah Russell's stats in the game 7 of Finals mostly exploiting the soft spot of the 60s Lakers...never facing a HOF C in a elimination game of a Finals...until Wilt in 69. Well we all saw how the Playoff GOAT Wilt performed in that series....smh!! He was 32 and Russell was 35. A 32 year old version of either Kareem or Hakeem would've had that version of Russell retiring.....during the Finals. Luckily for Russell....he and Boston they faced a underachieving Chamberlain instead. The truth is Wilt doesn't even have ONE truly outstanding above average Finals performance resulting in a NBA title to compare to 94 or 95 Hakeem. Or even Kareem in 71 and 85....the first Lakers HOF C to end the dreaded Celtics curse.

@@gggorko all false lies. The truth is hakeem shouldn’t even be in the same breath as wilt. Average finals??? There’s nothing average about averaging almost a triple double and 20 plus rebounds and 4ast for your entire finals career. Hakeem barely cracks 10 rebounds to go with just 3 ast and 3 blocks and 28pts off 49% shooting which is far inferior to wilts 19pts off 56% shooting and 25 rebounds 9 blocks and 4ast. Why lie as if hakeem is good enough to be in same universe as Wilt? Kareem also falls short of wilts greatness in the finals with 24 pts off 52% shooting 3 ast and 2 blocks and didn’t even crack 10 rebounds. And u got the nerve to compare that to someone with well over 20 Rebs 19 pts off 56% shooting 9 blocks and 4 ast? It’s 2023 no excuse to be delusional or biased against anyone Gotta get real
