Being completely honest. The Jazz fleeced both the TWolves and Cavs with those trades. Have you guys seen how Markkanen has been playing? Markkanen for Donovan straight up might have been fair but the Cavs gave up a lot more than just Markkanen.

And the worse part is, the Timberwolves could have cut the price by over half if they had just put lottery protections on those traded firsts. A bunch of potential 15th overalls is a hell of a lot less than a bunch of potential 1st overalls.

I think KDs foot being on the line will be one of the most important moments in modern nba history. If the Nets had won, they had a great shot at the title. With a title, there's no way the team would've melted down like this, and the players wouldn't have been traded as early. That moment has led to a shake up of the nba's top teams (76ers, suns, mavs) and has changed the trajectory of at least 5 teams. Would love to see a video on how this disaster turned out in a few years.

I barely pay any mind to the NBA anymore. The league is now a trash product. No defense, all rules changes favored offense for 20 straight years, player empowerment has led to toxic personalities putting teams and fan bases through the wringer. Players more focused on politics and their own legacies than winning. Players winding up on 4 teams in 4 years. It's hard to keep track. They need to fix the league. It's broken.

I can understand the Nets here. They have a diverse pool of talent to give time and see who sticks out, and those picks will probably allow them to round out their team into a very consistent, deep roster. They're prioritizing team basketball and want to grow their own stars with Claxton and Thomas with a bunch of great two way players. No superstar drama, no untenable cap situations. I honestly like their strategy.
@legendarycollection7184
@legendarycollection7184 Жыл бұрын
Somehow there are superstar change to the worst because he win chip and sometimes they get better when win chip Durant kyrie to arrogant to think they can shut the media down just with they skill, bisede championship team is come from teamwork and sacriface. Thats why we saw guy like MJ, the team know how best to work with MJ and other guy should sacriface his talent for good resume like steph did for durant. Well just my opinion. I more like to build your own star in trustfull organization like nowday GSW, Milwaukee, Mav for example. But its not mean player like durant kyrie lebron who need to jump team to chase chip is bad, just sometimes it won't work because there is no chemistry for both in start play.

As a suns fan from phoenix I'm hyped but also cautious. We gave away a lot of depth with Makal Bridges and Cam Johnson. Both of them were young players that developed their whole careers within the suns ecosystem. In addition to our first round draft picks we've pretty much traded our future away. Kevin Durant is one of the greatest but he's very injury prone especially recently. I think there's a bigger chance that this could blow up in the suns face than people are willing to admit right now
@DuranceBell
@DuranceBell Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the odds of both KD and CP3 going through an entire playoff run without getting injured is pretty much 0. That's assuming they stay healthy enough during the rest of the regular season to even make the post season. They're only 2.5 games ahead of the 12th place team. That's not much of a buffer.

The Suns (i am not defending I actually dont like them even before Durant) Have a past his prime and gets tired if her exerts to much in a game Chris Paul, Devin Booker who is a great offensive talent but chokes(Klay is better than him IMO), and Ayton who sometimes shows up for big games but is often rather quite(also got out rebounded by Luka in that series) They need Durant to win (I still think they wont) Golden state did not.

Looking back on this video, the true takeaway for me is that the Gobert trade was too prematurely paraded as the worst trade in NBA history. As long as you have a plan with what you’re doing (like the wolves seemingly did) and aren’t just trying to go out and get great players (like the Suns and Mavericks did), it should work out. A good video idea would be about how the NBA or sports fans as a whole are too impatient. I know that last year as a Wolves fan I was.

I don‘t agree, I think the Nets got great value. You said it yourself, KD era in Brooklyn was terrible in terms of results. It just wasn‘t working. And he wanted to leave. Also, as great as he is, he‘s quite injury prone and it won‘t get better with age. After the trades, the Nets have a solid team with some excellent players. Great defensive players, very good shooters. If they can get organized offensively, get everyone involved and ball and bodies moving, they can make a run without a clear number one option. Also they‘re a young team, they will still get better. And they got a shitload of picks. I think they can look optimistically into the future after the big three disaster. And the suns: I like them but I don‘t think they got a great deal. The starting lineup is very impressive now, but they‘re lacking in depth. Also who‘s gonna play defense now? They gave up some of their best young defensive players. If they don‘t get a title this or next year, they will regret this.The window is short.

I think the Nets can serve as a case study in how not to put together a "super team." I heard someone make a great point on YT yesterday, that you need at least one home grown player (e.g., Dwayne Wade in Miami) to bring free agents in to have some stability. Of course, having a good owner, GM and coach are other important factors.

From Brooklyn to Phoenix, from Oakland, to Portland, then back to Oakland. Or BKN to DAL. New city, new house, new coach, new arena, new teammates. Pack your bags and take your family there. Maybe it won't be for long. What astonishes the most out of these trades, is the fact that players like Durant or Irving are willing to do all this in the middle of a grueling season. And on top of that, the draft picks. Those who will be selected, are starting to live their dream now, maybe they aren't even thinking about the NBA. Many people around NBA players think about everything, when a trade occurs. But there's a lot to think about. An NBA player is an enterprise. When you think about the details going on in a trade, the humans and miles involved, it's just.. mind boggling.

To put you into perspective, Midseason deadlines trades are statistically more downgraded values than those Offseason deadlines, if you look at the history of trades. Offseason trades got more inflated due to availability of free agents, no worry of giving up players with more alloted roster spots open and Cap space market is easier to conduct moves than of Midseason trade deadlines, with less open spots, you need boughout or either you can't suddenly waive guaranteed players, you have to match salary. Thats what makes this 2023 Mid season deadlines so Unique than ever before, i never seen at this extent of players to be traded.

I actually think, that teams are starting to see that forcing thin rosters around forced together suprstars doesnt really work. look at the nets or the Lakers. I think teams are opting back to the more traditional, current celtics or Bucks approach of slowly building a solid team and having your guys rise up to the challenge. I like the look of the new Nets, or cavs or jazz for example, they could become extremely fun. You cant really talk about Brooklyns „downfall“, shit didnt work, so they are trying another approach instead of digging deeper into the dirt lakers style.

KD and Kyrie are no good for the Nets, period. They have being tested and for some reason didnt make it. No reason for the organization holding players that not winning no matter how good they are. Especially if there are first round draft picks available instead. Kd has glass feet, health issues with injuries etc. Its a high risk contract to sign for someone who may play like 10 games and lose the rest season. Kyrie has non basketball issues that effecting serioucly his game and even his career. As players both are unicors, as Nets team members they where less of good. And no way they are the leaders people may think they are. Kawhi, Giannis take a chip being the star of their teams with worst rosters that Mj's bulls. Kyrie got his chip with Lebron, not even one mvp, not even one all nba first team 30yo, no skills to handle situations in ways that not affeft his present on a team. Kd hass glass feet, he may be an all time great as a unit, but he got his chips with one of the greatest player ever on one of the greatest teams ever. I think you're right that being on superteams won't help his legacy, even if he's the most talented player on them. I feel like he might play in Phoenix for 2 years, realize CP is too old, they traded their best young players _(Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges)_ and all their draft picks to get him, and demand another trade _(possibly to my Lakers to play with his buddy Lebron, which I think would be a disaster)._ I think the Nets end up more successful with no KD and teams realize that you can't just throw a bunch of talent together and figure it out on the fly. You really do need supporting players and a plan for how you're going to use everyone, not just a pile of talent.

Historically, I think most superstar trades are not equal value. As a Wolves fan, look at the KG trade for example. High draft picks are probably the best thing you can get because if the other team had a player of similar quality, why would they trade for them?

Can't wait for the LBJ scoring record vid where you discuss the GOAT debate for the 36th time and still end up with the same results xD. Your work is absolutely amazing. Great edits and greater commentary

I think at this point everyone has made up their mind which side they're on. For me, being 44 you can guess which side I'm on lol. Have a good day.

1. When that Gobert trade went down I was scratching my head on how Utah pulled that off. Then I remember Danny "finessegawd" Ainge was in Utah FO. Most ppl probably don't remember but when he was in BOS other teams didn't want to trade with him because they felt they were going to get finessed lol. 2. KD only has a few years left. Nobody wants to talk about it but his body is breaking down. Just look at the games he's missed the last 4 yrs compared to his first 7 years in the league. 3. Lastly Brooklyn is just as much to blame for the "big 3" failures as KD/Ky/Harden. They just kept making horrible decisions. Trading J Allen, hiring Nash. I'm not saying those players deserve no blame but the Nets as equally responsible for this group failing

Yeah choosing DeAndre Jordan over Jarrett Allen to appease KD and Kyrie looks really bad now

@@AcidLightning Danny Ainge aka finessegawd - Stole Kevin Garnett from the T'Wolves for spare parts: Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair and two 2009 first-round picks (1 of which was their own that they were reacquiring) Stole Ray Allen (and Glen Davis) from the Sonics for spare parts: Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, and Jeff Green Fleeced the Brooklyn Nets by trading them a bunch of geriatrics in Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry: Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Tornike Shengelia, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans and unprotected first-rounders in 2014, 2016 and 2018. The players didn't amount to much but the picks were very important. The Nets were terrible, so the picks were high. The Celtics turned those picks into JAYLEN BROWN and KYRIE IRVING!! Absolutely ridiculous SMDH.
